  1. If Silva can give up less than 5 runs I will be happy, he was throwing meatballs that inning.
  2. Damn, at least we made Homer throw a good amount of pitches. Don't suck Silva
  3. Event though we haven't been scoring a bunch of runs in the first inning between last night and tonight (yet), it's nice to see we are getting the opposing pitcher into the mid 20's in the first inning.
  4. But Lou said he was gonna play guys who get results. :-)) The thing is there are literally no options to replace Theriot on the 25-man roster, Fontenot is not a SS. Theriot has nobody that is a potential risk to steal ab's from him as the roster stands right now. Then at least move him out of the slot that gets the most AB's. I agree, if Lou is going to stick to that line of thinking and in regards to Theriot (has no replacements on the bench) he should be batting 8th.

  6. Grabow, Theriot, and Fontenot can all just go away
  7. You certainly can if you watch from the same angle for tens of thousands of pitches, like most of us have done with the camera at Wrigley. You just need to adjust to the skewed perspective. Adjust how? Do you look at the same pitches with and without the skewed perspective to learn? So the pitches Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz all used to get as strikes were even further out of the zone?
  8. Was Samardzija pitching against Daytona?
  9. I'd trade Samardzija for him
  10. C- Jason Kendall 1B- Geoff Blum 2B-Kazuo Matsui 3B- Jhonny Peralta SS- Orlando Cabrera (Dusty Ball!) LF- Juan Pierre CF- Carlos Gomez RF- Jeff Francoeur SP- Jeff Suppan SP- Dontrelle Willis
  11. Ben Sheets is such a racist
  12. I agree. He hasn't been what we've expected, but he hasn't been a complete bust. He still put up a very respectable OBP last season and hit well in the first half. I think he improves again this year, especially if he's platooned a little more. Agreed if he is kept to a little bit more of a strict platoon and maybe given a few extra off days against tough RHP or guys he has struggled against he should have a good year. Not to mention that he is an excellent defender in RF.
  13. Obviously it's only one game, so sample size, but the bullpen was good outside of Shark. Soto did hit a ball hard, Jones made a pretty decent play. Soriano started slow in 06/07 but he just looks lost, I have no faith in Fontenot and the rotation should be slightly above average, but the implosion potential of that and the bullpen is scary.
  14. Go get em' on Wednesday. This is still a .500ish team, if we can stay in it long enough to make a move for a guy or two around the deadline (or get someone to come up and be productive Cashner, Castro, etc.) we could sneak in as the WC. Even though this is getting ugly. Just leave Samardzija in and don't wear out the bullpen.
  15. Get the [expletive] out of the league Samardzija
  16. How do you let Chipper [expletive] Jones steal a base on you?!?
  17. Time for Samardzija to get rocked and put us out of our misery
