  1. Not to mention that's 6'8" and fairly thin. Not only does that give him plenty of room to fill out and gain velocity but when pitchers are that tall, it can often take them more time than others to coordinate their delivery. Apparently, Hudson isn't experiencing that delay which speaks to his athleticism. So, he'll likely add velo, will have great downward plane on his pitches creating more balls hit on the ground and is progressing faster than expected speaking to advanced athleticism. I have him as the highest ceiling prospect left on the board and he hasn't done anything so far to suggest he's struggling to reach it.
  2. This is where it gets interesting. After Zagunis (who won the previous round with 9 votes), there were 5 guys tied with 4 votes and 2 more tied with 3. As usual, you can vote for up to 2 players and are allowed to change your vote.
  3. #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez #7: Dylan Cease #8: Jeimer Candelario #9: Duane Underwood #10: Carl Edwards Jr. #11: Eddy Julio Martinez #12: Oscar De La Cruz #13: Pierce Johnson #14: Victor Caratini #15: Mark Zagunis
  4. No need to write in Kellogg. I put him on the list starting with the poll for #14.
  5. Ha! Thanks, KC. I'll fix that.
  6. Arismendy with a walk as well. I wish that weren't a thing worth posting about him. Still have hopes he can return to form. He's actually (finally) age appropriate for his level this year as a 24-year-old in AAA. 6-game hitting streak now. Keep this going, Mendy...
  7. You can choose up to two players and can go back and change your votes.
  8. #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez #7: Dylan Cease #8: Jeimer Candelario #9: Duane Underwood #10: Carl Edwards Jr. #11: Eddy Julio Martinez #12: Oscar De La Cruz #13: Pierce Johnson #14: Victor Caratini
  9. Chesny Young is off to a hot start and showing surprising pop. Actually the start isn't all that hot for him. He hit .327/.384/.409 between short season A and Low-A two years ago and .320/.392/.386 between Low-A and High-A last year while walking more than he struck out. So getting off to a .350/.458 start with 4 BBs against 1 K isn't all that shocking. But the .650 SLG is. It's just SSS and will clearly correct over time but he hit this one deep. 10. [bbvideo=640,360] [/bbvideo] I'd like to take this opportunity to personally apologize to Willson Contreras for not having him as my #1 prospect going into the season. He's hit safely in every game so far for a slash line of .478/.520/.609. He's struck out twice in 24 PAs and has thrown out 3 of 7 potential base stealers. We get it, dude. I was wrong. Relax. Feel free to go 0-for-4 today. You'll still be hitting .407.
  11. The depth is amazing. looking around the league there are 2-3 teams with similar depth and that's it. I'd say there are some guys left with all-star potential on this list, they're just really far away. Bryan Hudson and D.J. Wilson have that kind of ceiling, but it's so early in their development we have very little idea of their likelihood of reaching it. Heck, there are even players not on our list of prospects to vote on that could have an all-star ceiling. None of this year's IFA signees (save for EJM) are currently on the list.(Nor should they be given we know so little about them at this stage.)
  12. You may vote for one or two players, and you have the ability to change your votes.
  13. #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez #7: Dylan Cease #8: Jeimer Candelario #9: Duane Underwood #10: Carl Edwards Jr. #11: Eddy Julio Martinez #12: Oscar De La Cruz #13: Pierce Johnson
  14. And Pierce it is...
  15. #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez #7: Dylan Cease #8: Jeimer Candelario #9: Duane Underwood #10: Carl Edwards Jr. #11: Eddy Julio Martinez #12: Oscar De La Cruz
  16. That vaunted South Bend OF is getting off to a good start. Jimenez triples and Martinez drives him home.
  17. Are we stopping with 11 or can anyone post the next one and I should just get off my butt and do it...?
  18. Thanks, Raisin! Welcome back, everybody! A full slate of games is on the docket. #LetsGo
  19. Thanks for this, Raisin. I was looking for this the other day. You read my mind. Great work.
  20. That may have been recently updated. AZPhil posted that INF Aramis Ademan, INF Jhonny Bethencourt, RHP Hector Garcia, OF Jose Gonzalez, RHP Jose Leidenz, 3B Rafael Mejia, SS Rafael Narea, LHP Pablo Ochoa, LHP Eugenio Palma, SS-2B Yeiler Peguero, SSF Yonathan Perlaza, OF Ruben Reyes, OF Abraham Rodriguez, RHP Andri Rondon, and OF Jonathan Sierra have been called up to participate in ExST. It was originally reported that there'd be a total of 18 so there may be 3 more to come.
  21. That and he only had 182 PAs at AA last season. I suspect if he dominates in his first 120 PAs or so, he could get a quick promotion.
  22. Nice to see Sepulveda make the jump. He's got a good bat and approach. Interested to see how it plays in the MWL.
  23. Remillard with another TJS might have had something to do with Alamo getting the nod.
  24. I had the honor of attending opening night in Anaheim. 9-0 is definitely a nice way to start the season and announce to the fans that it's okay to believe the hype. It was also, hands down, the warmest and most comfortable opening day/night Cubs game I've ever been to. Lots of great moments. Russell making a great play ranging to his left to snag a ball destined for CF and gun the runner down at 1B. Arrieta's dominance. Montero's blast. But my favorite moment came from the Cubs faithful who greatly outnumbered the Angels fans in section 127 after their 8th inning exodus. The familiar chant "Let's go, Cubbies!" (with the requisite clap, clap, clap clap clap) started up. It quickly grew. It was loud and unchallenged by the few remaining Angels fans. But there was something different about this chant. It not only was communicating our appreciation of their 9-0 performance but it spoke to the future. There was nothing left to urge our team to do, after all. The game was well in hand. This was southern California Cubs fans communicating to their players that this was the year. Even though this was the first game of the season, these fans (who may not have a chance to see them live again this season) were cheering on their team to win it all.
  25. And speaking of legendary (albeit this one was steriod-aided) blasts hit out of Wrigley. Who can forget this one?
