  1. That's about 4:05 am for me. :( Lost in translation, are we?
  2. Has he been playing the field or DHing? DHing. Thanks. Is that his projected position now? Yes. East Dubuque, huh. I've been there.
  3. I'm not as sold as some are on Kearns. I know he has a lot of talent, but so does Corey Patterson. My wishlist consists of Adam Dunn and Jesse Crain. If he is healthy, David Weathers would be a nice addition as well.
  4. Not that it matters, but novia means girlfriend. To IMB, they are one in the same ;) *totally just kiddin, IMB :D* No you weren't. I also agree that Novoa should be sent down to AAA. He has absolutely no control and times. His WHIP is horrible and sooner or later his ERA will skyrocket. I agree. I think Novoa has got some good stuff, but its not quite ready for prime time just yet. The problem is with whom do you replace him? And who else should be moved? Jermaine Van Buren had a breakout year in '04 and has followed it up with an equally convincing first half this season. In AAA, he is holding opponets to a .171 batting average. His WHIP is just under 1 and his ERA is just above 2. He is striking out well over a batter per inning. He seems like the perfect candidate to bolster the bullpen in house. What more does this guy have to do? As far as who else should be moved, I say overhaul as much as you can. Besides Ohman, Dempster and maybe Rusch, the Cubs don't have anyone in their bullpen that they can really count on. Novoa, Mitre, Remlinger and Wuertz have all been hot and cold. If you replace one of them with Van Buren and another with Williamson, then you could bring up Hill as the third guy and just go with a 6-man pen. But I would do what I could to trade for Twins reliever Jesse Crain. He might be costly, but he wouldn't be a rent-a-player, so it would be worth it. That would give the Cubs a pen of Dempster, Williamson, Crain, Ohman, Rusch, Van Buren and maybe Hill. That's not too shabby.
  5. Okay, so the guy you have been calling to be taken out of the game for a while now, just goes 1-2-3 and all you have to say is that? How about, "Way to go, Jerome! I didn't think you had it in ya!" I'm extremely happy that Jerome did well that inning. I'm just a little worried about him since he looked like he could barely walk back to the dugout after the inning. Cool. Thanks for your response. And it looks like Dusty finally heard you.

  7. Yeah, I know. From the tone of this game thread, you'd swear the Cubs were getting beaten 10-0. Weird. Go Cubs! I just think that many feel that with the lineup the Cards ran out there today, it shouldn't even be close. Yeah, but this is baseball. Anything can happen on any given day. Sure if the Cards ran that line-up out there every game, then over the course of a 162 game season, we should expect them to not do very well, but to expect things to go that way in one particular game? True, the Cubs haven't played all that well (Williams was less than brilliant, Walker's error), but they're winning. What do we care about more? Criticizing the Cubs or cheering them on to victory?
  8. CUBS are 11-3 when they hit 3 or more home runs. Go CUBS !! Thank you, Fred! Go CUBS!!

  10. By all means then, please continue fooling yourself into believing nonsense. And you can continue fooling yourself into thinking you know better. IMB!, There is no need for personal attacks. For hundreds of years, not too long ago, everyone believed the world was flat and the center of the universe. Through education, the ridiculous (that the world was round and traveled around the sun) became accepted to be the sublime truth. We know very little about how this world works. But if you feel the need to attack me and attempt to belittle and ridicule me for believing in something you don't, go right ahead. Your actions speak louder than the words you choose...
  11. I knew that Walker could get something going against Morris. Way to go, DLee!!!!
  12. That's a dubious statement ... but I'll grant you that the fans' attitude/atmosphere at Wrigley had a big hand in dealing us the events of Game 6. You would be correct. I should know. I was there. The studies that have shown that mass consciousness can affect the outcome of events are well-documented. It was something like a group of patients at a hospital were prayed for and group wasn't. The results were surprising, IIRC. Wasn't there another study recently done on patients who were prayed for, meditated for, some combination of the two, or neither that concluded prayer and meditation did nothing for them? I know its in one of these commentaries. I'll try and find a better link http://www.randi.org/jr/archive.html You are correct, the study he is referencing was very flawed. Interesting. I'd like to learn more. Do you have a link? "The Amazing" Randi isn't the most unbiased of sources. But thanks. I'll look into it.

I can't imagine that anyone actually believes that mass conciousness has an effect on something like the outcome of a baseball game, that's just ridiculous. Thanks for your 2 cents. When you educate yourself, the ridiculous can transform into the sublime.
  14. You are aware that the game is still tied, right?

I didn't hear about any such thing, but that doesn't mean anything...

  18. Hey, now. We all know that Cardinals pitchers don't ever put any foreign substance on a ball. pine tar
  19. Vent away. But putting stuff like that out into the universe might not be helping matters much. If it were just one fan saying stuff like "We just can't win" it might not amount to much, but hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of Cubs fans across this country are thinking or saying or writing the same thing right now. Like it or not, mass consciousness as been shown, perhaps proven, to affect the outcome of events.
  20. Come on, Cubs fans. Lets keep it together. The Cubs still have the lead. Lets think positive, for a change. Enough with the "of courses". The Cubs aren't cursed.
  21. Hart was a bust and the other guy will be a flash in the pan as well Yeah, but that bust put together on really good season just when the Cardinals needed him to. Other team's busts are busts from the beginning. At least until they are traded away, that is....
