  1. Wow, nice line from John. Is there any chance that we might be able to use him as trade bait? If he puts up another couple of good lines, I wouldn't mind seeing what sort of value we could get for him. He probably isn't going to be a starter in the majors for us and teams might like the fact that he has some major league experience. I would laugh if JH was somehow able to trade him back to Cincy in a package for one of their coveted outfielders. :D
  2. After a 14-13 June, its time to start July off with a nice long winning streak against the NL East and some potential Wild Card rivals. The ex-Expos roll into town, and the Cubs send newly-returned ace, Mark Prior, to the mound to get the month started with a victory. Livan "150-pitch" Hernandez takes the mound for D.C. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/407578.jpg vs. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/115817.jpg Over/Under on combined basehits by both pitchers is 4.5 If you're attending the game in Wrigley, get there early -- the 1st 10,000 fans age 21 & over get a Cubs Gray T-Shirt. :D oh.... and one more thing.... GO COBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111111111 8)
  3. LOL -- how much will Neifi be asking for after this season? Ronny Cedeno your table is ready.
  4. We need to recruit some Red Sox fans to the cause.... in exchange for supporting Tek and others, I'm sure they'd thow votes DLee's way. 250 votes and counting BTW -- hardly in vance's league, but doing my little bit in between annoying distractions from work. :D
  5. I wonder how bad he would haev to collapse to be returned... His left arm would have to literally fall off.... he's not coming back.
  6. Tickets have just been released for Friday's Cubs/Sox game. I just scored 2 decent terrace box seats! Get 'em while you can. :D
  7. I think the axe may drop on Eric Wedge first. Cleveland has really underachieved given the pitching/hitting talent they have --- and it doesn't help that the White Sox have been the hottest team in baseball.
  8. Voice -- welcome to the forum and an excellent first post. Get out the vote Cubs fans. The NL MVP-so-far needs to be the starting first baseman in Detroit this summer.
  9. In the same way that former Rule V pick, Johan Santana, was hurt by coming out of the pen for the Twins? Sisco is getting regular work, not being hidden in the back of the Royal's pen, and he's getting that work against major leaguers. I doubt that's really hurting his development much.
  10. He's not coming back regardless of the rest of the season's performance. The Royals suck and can afford to keep him all year. As stated by others, the problem wasn't management not forseeing this success this quick in Sisco, it was the moronic gamble they took when complete garbage like Stephen Randolph was (temporarily) given a 40-man spot instead.
  11. Sisco gave up a hit in the middle of striking out the side inthe 8th against the White Sox today. I missed it so I didn't get a chance to see how good he looked, but CSN is re-airing it @ 1am CT so I guess I will have to set the DVR to record.... ... oh, his ERA is down to 1.35 BTW. :x
  12. That all may be true, but the Cubs should have been able to get a lot more than Matt friggin' Karchner for Garland. Terrible trade then, still a terrible trade.
  13. Anytime Dusty uses Remy as a lefty specialist.... its a bad managerial move. :x
  14. Holy hyperbole, Hendry isn't a fool. He took a calculated gamble that doesn't look like it is going to pay off. Some wouldn't have made that gamble in the first place, myself I would have. An unnecessary million dollar gamble with a high ceiling lefty starter is foolish.
  15. Returning to the original topic, why the heck didn't Hendry include Sisco in the Nomar deal last year??? At least we'd still have Jones and could feel like Sisco's departure contributed something to the Cubs. The fact of the matter remains that someone in the front office made a serious miscalculation with regards to Sisco.... a million dollar miscalculation (his signing bonus). Unless you worked as an executive for Enron or Worldcom, when managment makes a 7 figure mistake, doesn't someone have to take the fall for the error? Where is the accountability? :x :x :x
  16. I agree, but that doesn't mean Cruz was just a throw-in.... I admit it -- I like the kid and always have. I think he was misused, but he also didn't take advantage of opportunities when they were given to him. He has a lot of talent, and I won't be surprised if he has a very successful career somewhere.
  17. further evidence that this forum needs a puke emoticon. Agreed on the want to puke. I take it I hit an anti-Beane nerve with you? My point was that Oakland could have received any number of deals for Hudson, but settled on a deal that included Cruz -- so he must have some apparent value. Where exactly is the need to vomit in that?
  18. Or they felt getting an established front line starter like Hudson was worth parting with Cruz -- particularly since they didn't really give up much to get Juan in the first place. Also, the fact that Beane wanted Cruz leads me to believe he's probably not too bad.
  19. Two more shutout innings today for Sisco. His ERA is now down to 1.86. Thanks Hendry.
  20. Terrible news. Get well Eddy. :(
  21. When the Yanks were in town: "$160 million could buy a lot of beer"
  22. One of my favorites was from a 2003 series against St. Louis (their pen was atrocious all year): "Hey Cardinals, thirsty for a pitcher?"
  23. Luol Deng will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his right wrist. Link :(
  24. Bulls move into the 5th playoff spot and, if the Wizards lose later tonight, they'll only be 1 game away from home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs. :D
  25. OK, I think I'm ready to handle the responsibility. Add me to the list please. Thanks.
