  1. It is my opinion that NE traded for this pick with a specific player in mind. The player is still on the board.
  2. Good pick. IIRC, he's Mayock's top center.
  3. Ricky Williams asked me to make him a fake ID. OK, yours is better...
  4. Right on. With the 43rd pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select... Larry English, DE/OLB, Northern Illinois University http://blogs.suburbanchicagonews.com/sportsbeacon/Larry%20English.jpg SF finally takes a WILL for their 3-4 on the first day. He'll rotate with surprise Parys Haralson for most of his first season and take over full time next season. As someone already said, English reminds a lot of people of PIT OLB Lamar Woodley.
  5. I'll wait until tomorrow morning to pick for SF to give CubbieBum some time to respond to my pm.
  6. Not with the Cubs he wasn't. his 2004 was pretty awesome, even though he was clearly juicing Only on his hands.
  7. Well at least we got a solid LB out of it. Wait...
  8. Judging by your location...Coffman fan? Very much so. But even leaving Coffman aside, Pettigrew is essentially a guard with good hands. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it seems to me that there's lots of guys around who can do the same thing. I'd want a TE that can go get the ball in the red zone if you're taking one that high. You mean like Vernon Davis? :?

  10. Character issues and not a lot of need at TE is hurting him right now, I think. I like him and Jared Cook a decent amount, though. I like both of those guys too. I just don't need a TE in round 2 and Pettigrew's at the top of my board. I was looking at TEs until the Titans franchised Bo Scaife. Now, unless I can get a steal I'm not investing a pick in a fourth TE, certainly behind Alge Crumpler and Scaife. I think Pettigrew will be a steal by the time he gets to you again...but I doubt he does. When are we finishing the first round? I'm having fun crossing names off my big board (and realizing how lame that sounds). It's not lame at all, I'm already figuring up who I think might fall to the Titans in the second and third round. Looks like I'm slacking...

  13. I'm surprised Brandon Pettigrew's still on the board.
  14. VI must be busy waxing chumps like a candle...
  15. Yes, they graduated the same year and are good friends. That school's about 15 minutes from me. Too bad I wasn't paying attention a few years ago.
  16. I knew you wouldn't be available, so I didn't ask you for your opinion. The top 2 on my board were Stafford and Jenkins. It was VERY difficult to not pick Jenkins and plug him in that gaping FS hole. I'll PM you my estimated board for Round 2. How many rounds is this again?
  17. Sorry, the clock manager was busy showering and getting ready for work. EhDubya and the Bills are on the clock and I will PM him. And I love the Stafford to 49ers pick. It makes sense, but we will not be hapy if two first round QBs within 4 yeras don't pan out...especially after having back to back HOF QBs. We're spoiled (at least, we used to be). I think it'd be smart to keep Stafford on the bench this year and let Shaun Hill get beat down. Then, when Singletary has his running game going and, hopefully, a better defense and o-line, then turn the job over to Stafford in 2010 (like you said). I think it'd help that Singletary wants to run like crazy, though. The pressure won't be on a young QB to lead the offense entirely. It would help. This will be an interesting year, as Singletary seems to be a bit of a wild card. He was always one of my favorite players (along with Payton) so I'm certainly pulling for him to succeed. If nothing else he should provide some great sound bites. :D Good sound clips and looking forward to the draft are almost as good as going to the playoffs. How the mighty have fallen...

  20. Wow. That just might become my new ringtone...
  21. yeah as far as being realistic, there's no way that stafford (or a quarterback at least) doesn't get picked in the top 10. andre smith has less than zero chance of going #1 overall but whatevs. Yeah, this really ruined my plans (in a good way). I thought I'd end up with Everette Brown and MAYBE Jenkins. Too hard to pass up Stafford, though I don't think there's any chance he's there for the real thing.
  22. Also, I didn't realize until just now that Matt Stafford went to the same high school as Clayton Kershaw...and probably around the same time.
  23. With the 10th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select… Matthew Stafford, QB Georgia http://cache.secsports.com/image_lib/fbc_uga_matt_stafford_111106_164w.jpg It was hard to pass up Malcolm Jenkins when he could step in and fill the glaring void at FS immediately, but Stafford was the top player remaining on my big board. The track record for underclassmen QBs isn’t great, but Stafford is a three-year starter in one of the toughest conferences in college football. He can struggle with accuracy at times, but he has a big-time arm and is a tough competitor. It would be in his best interest to sit for a short time, and he should be the Niners’ starter by 2010.
  24. So I get to choose between Stafford and Jenkins? Possible QB of the future or FS of the present. Give me a few minutes...
  25. He's not Calvin Johnson, but at 6-3 he's taller than most WRs in the draft, he's strong and athletic and has good to very good hands. Plus he's only 21, so he's got more time and upside. I kinda question whether he's average speed or not. He's no burner, but the times I've seen him I'd say he's probably above average speed. I think he measured at just over 6'1".
