  1. dammit. and he was hot coming into this game
  2. Very, very, very, very, very high. Remember, he's a gutless choking dog. I've been thinking about changing my title to that. That'd be a perfect fit for you. :) You have no idea
  3. I can't believe he stole 3rd so easily.

  5. when I was at the game on sunday when the white sox scored their second run (I think it was #2) 2 guys in their 40s in the row in front of me essentially did "patty cake" to "go go white sox"
  6. Bears might have won the lions and vikings games with benson. remember, the defense gave the O the ball on the 2 and 3 yard lines in the vikings game, and caused what, 6 turnovers against the lions?
  7. Do you feel better when you remember that BBB is californian?
  8. No chance of rain there til next week
  9. No, that was just incompetence. Oh, and the prevent defense. I can't believe A) they gave up a field goal with 25 seconds left, and B) edinger kicked a 56 yarder
  10. Score 10 points with an average defense adn you're going to lose 14 games
  11. I hate to break it to you, but it's possible to be both. Well, I don't consider anyone who would shame their favorite franchise a "fan". The same can be said for Penn State games where attendees boo the other teams' marching band or push their fans around. Being a fan of a team is a privelage, not a right. I am so happy everytime I hear that police use video tape to prosecute a-holes at football games and such who throw stuff on the field. Ban them from the stadium for life and take their family's name off the season ticket list. Inexcusable behavior. Yeah, someone who goes so nuts about something that they attack a supporter of an opponent could never be considered a fanatic. That's reasonable Is that how you define true fandom? Lame. Read, please.

  14. Best defense in football, and it would be widely known if they had a good offense.
  15. ok, I voted "yes, after clearing the bench" before reading the part about 9 year olds. It's fine in, say, college, where you need to get your players some real experience and it's screwing your team if you only have 1 quarter to get that in.
  16. Really? So the white sox were good at smallball til june then got bad at it? Fascinating. What is this comment refering to :?: The white sox won (basicaclly) all their 1 run games through june. After that, they were much, much worse. If this was a talent, why did it go away? They continued to win many one run games. No, they did not. you are in error. 12-10.
  17. the 2 currently for sale on ebay are at $88 and $200. I've seen it for $36-40 dollars for a later priniting. Here's a syllabus for a class on the history of sabermetrics. (Kent...where were these course when I was in undergrad!) The book list would likely be an excellent place to start. There's also an email address for one of the professors, so you might send him an email and see if he has any suggestions. You might also try researching online journals if your college has a subscription (and I'm sure it does) to those services. damned tufts, belonging to NESCAC, I think tufts has about a third of the undergrads in the 11 school conference.

  19. Thinking about that is making me slightly nauseous.

  22. Just wait until the Sox win. Then we'll see some odd articles.... Until july
  23. Farnsworth: 16 saves, 2 blown saves, 1 loss. (19 holds too, for the record) Lidge: 42 saves, 4 blown saves, 4 losses. Lidge is better than Farnsworth, but he's also lost more games for his team this season than Farnsworth has. Hmm 35 times in a save situation and 2 blown, vs 42 and 4 blown... Conclusive proof, lidge=gutless choking dog, farnsworth=clutch save king. No, it's conclusive proof that both can close during the regular season, which is clearly the statement I was challenging. Someday you will appreciate the glory that is absurd hyperbole.
