  1. I don't give fielder a base for that. absolutely no attempt to avoid that, and he had a ton of time
  2. there was a thread on it in the main forum a few weeks ago. And I'd swear there was one in the pre-season, but it seems no one else remembers it.
  3. He always does, doesn't he? it seemed longer than usual, but I wasn't paying full attention
  4. Your mistake is thinking that gooney is sunnydo and oldcubsfan is jon.
  5. Who are the Brewers scheduled to face when the Cubs are facing Pitt and Wash? Unfortunately, they also face the Pirates and the Nationals. All the Cubs can do is beat up on those two teams though, and if the Brewers do the same at least the Cubs should be quite a bit closer in the WC race at that point. i don't know...i really think the only way that the cubs make the playoffs is by taking the division...they would have to start playing like a team possessed to win the wild card IMO everyone who has been paying attention to the standings has known that the Cubs only shot at the playoffs was a division win since late April. it's never more realistic to assume that 5 other teams will all play worse than you than one will. There's a reason our odds of winning the WC are what, 1/20 our odds of winning the division?
  6. Jacque Jones was doomed from the start with the Cubs because of the contract given to him. I think Jacque is a really nice guy and wasn't terrible in his only full year with the Cubs. He doesn't deserve the racist comments and random booing that Cubs fans gave him. He will always have a negative impression of this city and Cubs fans because of it. Oh well. A) no one deserves the racist comments that may have been made. B) the contract wasn't that bad, if he actually produced this season like he did last year, no one would have said anything aside from "trade him while he's high" C) being little-league bad for a large portion of your contract will get the fans mad at you, true.
  7. if sutcliffe was larry the cable guy, they would have kept him around another half inning. that's sad.
  8. anyway, I'd vote for vance if he can prove that he's either decent or really horrible at singing
  9. I'd expect you to vote yourself in solo
  10. So, how long? My current record is 7 years, an I hope I never come close to that again
  11. Jon despite vegetarianism
  12. I not only do this, I do this in my dreams. then I think that the dream was real and get really confused when the next meeting doesn't make sense Mark of an obsessive perfectionist/control freak, you can't let the unexpected and random have unexpected or random outcomes.
  13. Did a lot of people leave once the Rockies took the lead? It was hard to tell on TV. it seemed that a lot of people left well before that. Hard to say how many left after that.
  14. oops, I was thinking of his game 2 starts ago (you know, 9 nnings, 1 run, a loss. I missed his last start. Nebraska is wide.)
  15. Eyre is still horrible and does not belong on any Major League roster. non-sequitor. he pitched 2 scoreless, despite the fact that he's normally a short reliever. he shouldn't have been back out there. no, he didn't
  16. Howry allows what, 2 inherited runners and 3 of his own to score, blows the save, and gets a win. That's significantly worse than a 0 pitch win, though I wouldn't be surprised if there was someone who had given up more runs in one inning and still gotten the win. But hey, he pitched better than zambrano did his last game. edit:oops, I mean zambrano's start 2 starts ago
  17. yeah, the only time I've seen the cubs win in person was in Pittsburg. In the 80s. I'm jealous of any win
  18. Oh, they definitely took him to jail. What he did is a felony. Yep. Len mentioned that it's a 3rd degree felony to run on the field like that. He'll be jailed for the night and heavily fined. It's a scary thought, but I honestly hope they find a weapon on this guy or something. Just something to put him in more legal trouble than he's already in. (I say that now knowing he didn't make it to Howry) That moron deserves a few weeks in a 8 x 8 with a large lonely man named Bubba. you deserve to be raped for speeding. ok, we're both overreacting. The guy deserves to be caned, but what you're suggesting is so far beyond the crime it's... well, it's disgusting. It does go to show the weakness in modern Western criminal systems. we don't have any punishments that satisfy people aside from locking criminals up with people who will beat them up and rape them. apparently that's better than caning.
  19. Now *THAT* is the life of a Cub fan! unless you mean "The cubs will someday win and we'll all keel over, dead by cardiac arrest" I think that's way too many highs for a Cubs fan
  20. after kaz dropped an easy game ending grounder, soriano singled bases loaded to right center, 2 runs scored
