  1. How is this possibly when most Cubs fans have made it clear last year was the only chance this century that we had to win the title? This years team sucks and will battle all year for 4th place? Yet, somehow with Bradley/Soto/Dlee struggling, Aramis injured twice, Bradley injured a good stretch, Zambrano injured, and no Kerry Wood or the lord almighty Mark Derosa we somehow have a better record then the alltime great 2008 Cubs? Longstory short this is a pretty talented team this year. Granted I'm still a bit worried about the bullpen but I think our rotation, and lineup is better this year. I know everybody likes yelling about the Cubs but I have a feeling this will be another fun summer. Hopefully they perform in the fall now.
  2. The guy on Chicago Tribune Lives said that all indications are that Crane Kenney and Jim Hendry will remain in their respective roles when Tom Ricketts officially gains ownership. Thoughts? I personally like this. Hendry may not be the best GM but I would say he's probably a top 10 GM in the league right now. I've read that Kenney was one who was all for upping the payroll and is passionate about winning.
  3. Where and how is Ryan Harvey doing?
  4. You never know. Theres been a few good players traded in the last few years that I thought teams would hold on to a little closer to when they would hit free agency. IIRC, Miguel Cabrera was still a couple years from free agency when the Marlins traded him.
  5. I doubt Lee would want to play in San Diego in a contract year. He has a no trade clause. No way that deal could happen. He is from Cali though so you never know. Although I believe he was upstate a bit in Sacramento.
  6. As much as I love Gonzalez. I think I would go with Peavy. A 27 year old bonafide top 3 pitcher in baseball. I'd rather have a good lineup with a pitching staff of Peavy, Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly. Then have a great lineup with Gonzalez and a good staff of Z, Harden, Demps, Lilly, Marshall. Any chance we can ripoff the Padres like we did the Pirates and Marlins. Do a DLee (contract expires next year right), Marshall, Vitters, Wellington Castillo, whoever else they want fron our minors for Gonzalez/Peavy. Im sure its just a wet dream but wow..
  7. Assuming you have to giveup similar value in each deal.
  8. Milton Bradley beat that ball like it was an Umpires Face!
  9. Any chance Aaron Miles is who we are releasing to make a roster spot for Samardzija? Since its not Cotts we can only hope it was Miles...
  10. I would have rang him up but I personally thing the K zone should be larger then the pitchers get in this era. I will say this that high strike isnt given to alot of pitchers like it was in the past. But, he rang Bradley up on it.. So, IMO it was a strike. But, its a pitch alot of umps dont call a strike now.
  11. Fuk is rippin the ball even on his outs.. damnn
  12. Werent we looking at Grienke heavily mid season in 07. I wanted him then, when it was much more likely he would be dealt. Now he has turned into the stud he always has had the potential to be, although he might crack any moment because of his psychological issues.
  13. I know Gooz just gave up a run there but am I crazy to want him as the Closer? Keep Marmol in the 8th or the biggest spot in the game. Let Gooz go consistently in save situations, would probably be better for his arm. (I think this is one reason Wood got the Closer role last year instead of Marmol, there is sometimes where you need to throw 2 innings or throw back to back but for the most part you can keep a Closers workload in the not terrible area). Maybe Gregg could be solid as a 7th inning guy. I say Marmol 8th, Gooz 9th.. see what the kid can do..
  14. Neither is great, but give me the guy that has more upside, plays better defense, hits for more power, and doesnt cost 2.5 million for 2 year. Upside? He's 26. He is who he is. Defense? Yes. Power? Yes, but not enough to make up for his abysmal OBP. Money? Yes, Miles is stupidly overpaid. But he's still a better hitter than Ron Cedeno. Guys, Guys.... no need to fight. They bothhh suck!
  15. How many straight years have we led the league in K's for pitching. Something like 7.. I was wondering how in the world we did this? Yeah we had some flame throwers like K Wood, Prior, Z, Clement, and now Harden.. but there was years none of those pitchers but Z had a significant amount of starts.
  16. Wouldnt be suprised if Brenly was right about him possibly tipping his pitches. They laid of alot of very close pitches.
  17. It's to bad Dusty aint here. He would probably leave Rich in for an epic 250 pitch 23K game..
  18. You can't take a guy out while he's on pace to set the single game strikeout record. Lol, this reminds me of Kerry Wood circa 2002.. This is probably Rich's worst start with the Cubs. Sucks, but I'm not worried. He'll be damn good as long as he's pitching. Im more concerned whether we can keep him healthy.
  19. Damn lets get Rich outta there, rest him up for the Cardinals.. This game is going bad fast..
  20. He looks pretty damn good alot.. despite that poor location on that 2 strike pitch..
  21. Harden 13K's, 5 innings, 2 ER, 2 hits, Bullpen gives up 3.. Cubs lose 5-2 today..
  22. Jesus.. not much to say but nice AB Marquis... Shouldve been out of the inning though, Ump clearly blew that call at 1B.
  23. Why is comcast's radar gun not working? This is pissing me off, it didnt work on Opening day either.
