  1. Do the donut races and kiss cams actually bother people? Just seems like people are whining for no reason, its not like they do that crap during the middle of plays. I've been to tons of baseball games with the races, and dancing, and kiss cams, not to mention 20 bulls games a year where they pretty much have a circus on the court between timeouts. None of these things have ever bothered me, annoyed me, or stopped me from enjoying/watching the games. Its stuff for the kids to enjoy, do I really care to see donut races.. no. But I dont see why it pisses people off so much.
  2. I dont see the hate for it. Maybe for nostalgic sakes but I think Wrigley has enough nostalgia between being around 100 years, the Marquee, the Scoreboard, the brick wall, the Ivy, the neighborhood, and just going to the stadium and thinking wow Babe Ruth played here, Ernie Banks, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Lou Gehrig, Stan Musial, Sandy Koufax, etc. I dont see what the Jumbotron does that bothers people accept maybe lose a bit of the view of the skyline outside Wrigley. I've been to ballparks around the whole country and yeah they yell for fans to make noise and bs like that but its never came to the point that it annoyed me or got in the way of me watching the game. Its not like I'm watching the jumbotron while the ball is being pitched, its for in between innings or plays. Plus most importantly, added revenue. PnL is king.
  3. Maybe Rodon is a future closer? Is a dominant closer worth a the 1st overall pick in the draft?
  4. Greatest band of alltime!
  5. Am I the only one that loves the home pinstripes? I feel its one of the best jerseys in sports, the only thing I could even think about changing on it would possibly be the sleeve. I'm also a fan of the blue alternates. I could see changing the blue alternates logo or putting chicago on it or something, but I dont want it changed to stupid ass dark navy blue. I want cubby blue!
  6. One of the cooler moments that can happen to a die hard Cubs fan. Ernie was in Chicago Cut Steakhouse tonight. Still has a heck of a grip on his handshake. Very nice guy. Thread is self explanatory, just wanted to share my excitement with NSBB!!
  7. Met Dusty at Gibsons downtown a couple nights ago. Very nice dude, then when he walked out one of the guys working at Gibsons announced Dusty Baker gentleman, the man has ruined more arms than the curveball! Pretty Awesome!
  8. Dallas Latos!!!! also she has a mildly entertaining twitter page where she gets into arguments with fans who tell her not to give Mat a BJ because he gave up 3 runs with only 1 out in the 1st! haha
  9. I was moderately excited when the Cubs acquired Jerome Williams. I dont get how a guy at age 21, can start 21 games with a 3.30 ERA and 124ERA+ and then have such an awful career from 23 to 30.... also cant believe he's still only 30...
  10. Lazer!
  11. In other news how is Rich Harden doing?
  12. Adam Wainwright Francisco Liriano Johan Santana Pedro Martinez Carlos Zambrano David Price I dont think it really is that bad of a career move to bring a young pitcher up out of the bullpen, especially if there is a huge need for the MLB team. Theres a couple guys like Marmol and Papelbon who ended up good as relievers and ended up staying relievers as well. I guess we will never know how their careers would have panned out as starters. Hughes and Joba in NY are kind of back and forth on starting/relieving right now as well and itll be interesting where there careers end up. I would not mind at all if Jay Jackson and Andrew Cashner were brought up get Major League experience and solidify this bullpen for the remainder of the year. Theres no doubt in my mind both could be good to very good in short inning spurts in the MLB right now, and with the way Marshall/Marmol are pitching if Cashner/Jackson pitch well that could improve our team immensely.
  13. lol this seems like something that would be happening in the cubs clubhouse.
  14. Yes, Soto is now the Ace of the starting rotation.
  15. Wouldnt Silva or even Cashner have made alot more sense in the 8th? I mean who thinks Silva is going to keep this up the whole year starting, who knows though he has some good stuff he may be a good 8th inning guy. Cashner has been downright nasty in the minors this year and I could easily see him doing well in a major league bullpen.
  16. Im not in love with the Phillies bullpen.. Im wondering if they plan on moving Roy Halladay back there?
  17. I dont think a team has ever just released 72 million in salary off their team, especially in the MLB where contracts are guaranteed. They might eat alot of his salary in a trade but I doubt theres any chance they outright release him.
  18. Im not saying Z is necessarily a liability now or anything, but why was he better at a very young age. His age 21 to 25 stats were better than arguably any young pitcher in baseball besides Lincecum, Webb, and Peavy. I would argue he was an ace or at least very close at those ages.. but why hasnt he kept getting better? I know its more common for a pitcher to decline in his prime then a hitter but its still a damn shame. I thought Z was on his way to being one of the 5 best pitchers in baseball, and it just seems like hes not that good.
  19. From 2001 to 2007 (ages 21 to 26) he was a great young pitcher who looked on his way to being a perennial all star and one of the top 5 to 10 pitchers in the game. He won 18 games in 07 as the Cubs won their first of back to back division titles and looked as if he was starting to put it all together. Then in 08 which was a great year for the Cubs as a team, and 09 its as if not only Zambrano didn't take that step forward into a consensus elite pitcher, he for some reason took 2 step backwards into a very average pitcher. 2010 isnt starting to look any different. Im just perplexed why this has happened considering his age he should be just hitting his prime, not taking so many steps backwards. Why do you think he was better as a 23 year old then as a 28 year old? I feel he still has great velocity but I felt he through consistently harder at 23. I know he has changed his pitcher repertoire a bit, any chance it is because of that? Was he just luckier his first few years and the league caught up to him? Or has he just been unlucky the last couple years and he still has the goods to be an elite pitcher?

  21. It would be cool to have a thread stickied of the best and most frequented forums of other teams around the MLB. I'd like to go talk sports with some of there fans throughout the year. Also I'm looking for a high traffic Blackhawks, Bulls, and Bears forum. Especially Bulls and Hawks because I am okay with the bears.scout.com forum and the bears forum on their official website. Thanks in Advance. I really love NSBB too. I know there is people who bicker and think others are insane here but that being said this forum has to be the most civilized of any I am on. There is alot more trolls and weakly ran forums around the sports web thats for sure.

  23. This just made my day! Does he go in as a Cub or an Expo though? I think the case could be made for both, but I dont know I see him in as a Cub.
  24. Sounds terrible but Id rather Silva just tear up his arm and we pay him that outrageous contract not to pitch sooner then see him get any starts in a Cubs uniform.
