  1. you say that as if the Cubs have had hitters go elsewhere and blossom into great hitters since...oh, let's say anytime in the past 20-25 years. Joe Carter wasn't to shabby now was he, I believe he has a couple rings on his finger! I wasn't talking about just hitters I was talking about any player, pitcher, batter and ballgirl for that matter. Joe Carter was pretty terrible. No he wasn't: http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cartejo01.shtml He was a horrible announcer though!
  2. Scott Eyre? I think you missed the part about wanting a lefty with success. He's had success. It's been awhile but still... LOL
  3. Just like bad teams usually lead the league in DP's turned. Because they allow more runners. Not because they have great defense.
  4. I have visions that his first pitch thrown will result in his arm detaching at the shoulder and falling to the ground about halfway between home and the pitching mound. Dusty Baker will run out of the visiting dugout nude. Pick up the arm, wave it furiously in the air and then scamper back into the visiting dugout.
  5. I doubt that, they just took three of four from the Brewers with Reyes, Wells, Maroth, and Thompson going for them. They will be players. I'd be more impressed had they done it at Miller Park. The Brewers are a different team on the road.
  6. Yeah, there were a few like that but the vast majority of it was "kneejerk hyperbole".
  7. St. Louis wil do no better than 3-3 through Pitt and Wash. Maybe worse.
  8. LOL...we had two lefty bats that went a combined 0-10.
  9. Put me on the list to NOT give him up in a Griffey or Dunn deal.
  10. That game thread was 10 pages long. This game thread here is now 12 pages.
  11. Ya, was hoping Fielder would pummel him... Or fall on him! :D
  12. Well, he was facing a fantastic pitching staff.
  13. My only regret is that Pujols didn't get a season ending injury in the rundown between 2nd and 3rd.
  14. I don't know if I'd go as far as saying most, but a lot did.LOL...funny how that changed so quickly. I'll admit I'm one of the ones who wouldn't have minded seeing him traded at the time. The Cubs didn't look to be in contention and it looked like he was in a freefall. Now his claim about winning the Cy Young Award this year doesn't look so crazy after all.He should be the leading candidate after today. Wonder how much teeth gnashing there is in the front office after not signing him to the very reasonable deal at the beginning of the season? He's not anywhere near the Cy Young Award quite yet. He might not even be in the top 5 right now. If he keeps pitching like he has recently though, he could move up the ranks quickly. I dunno...it's just like college football...If you are going to lose a game do it early. Z has been the one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last couple of months.

  16. Dempster I'm not sure about. Zambrano, unquestionably yes. :DWell yeah....that one is obvious.
  17. The way Fontenot has been hitting lately I'd rather have Ryan Dempster at the plate than Fontenot.

  19. Didn't most people on this board want Z gone after the fight with Barrett? Hmmmm....
  20. Hill and Fontenot are 0-10 today. Nice...and we're winning in spite of that. Our SP was 3-4!
