  1. God I wish this team could sell high on Taillon right now. If half the pitching roster wasn't on the IL, it would be possible.
  2. He's a 45+ and Baltimore's #8 prospect. If you think we're getting more than that you're kidding yourself.
  3. At this point I keep coming back to the Orioles and I keep thinking something like Chayce McDermott+lottery ticket
  4. That's what I told myself after the Cubs won the previous SF series.
  5. I didn't mean to imply he did. I was simply saying the Cubs are better are improving stuff than they are at improving command.
  6. Who are you really going to get though? Basallo would be crazy expensive and his defense is not a lot better than Ballesteros. SD needs a catcher almost as bad we do so Salas isn't going anywhere. The Brewers aren't trading us Quero. Austin Wells is already in the bigs. I'd love to get Harry Ford, but the Mariners are going to want bats that can step into their lineup now and who can the Cubs really give them? Bellinger+what?
  7. Unfortunately, with Assad now on the IL as well, I have significant doubts the Cubs move Hendricks even if he keeps tearing it up. There's just not enough healthy arms at the moment. I would definitely like to see Bellinger dealt. I do think it's an excellent chance to sell high on Taillon, but again, very few healthy starters. Once they do decide to be sellers I'd want Brewer dfa'd and maybe Smyly too, but they'd probably keep Smyly as an emergency starter.
  8. Tibbs/Moore are my 2 favorites with Yesavage trailing slightly behind. I'd be quite happy with any of them. Yesavage's weaknesses tend to be ones the Cubs are good at addressing. They've been much better in improving guys with above average command and average to below average stuff than they have been fixing guys with above average stuff and below average command.
  9. What's Bearish though? Of course he's not a 144 wRC+ bat in the bigs, but I do think he can be a solid 110-115 guy, with maybe peaks of 120. That's quite valuable and just a touch above average for the DH position this year.
  10. I've never really had doubt in the bat, it was will he be able to play anywhere other than DH, because if you're a DH you have to absolutely mash to provide value. If this CF experiment works then his value will be tremendous.
  11. Admittedly a very small amount of viewing by me, but the stuff doesn't seem as electric as it was pre draft. Granted the control has vastly improved.
  12. Because the Cubs suck and no one is doing anything to fix it?
  13. Hodge really really wanted to catch that ball.
  14. I fully expect Neris to end this right here.
  15. Yup, Mastrobouni as your 9th inning hitter. A game plan for success.
  16. Lead off walk by the pen, which I'm sure will inevitably score.
  17. Lead off double stranded. The same conclusion every day, but with a slightly different twist on how they got there.
  18. I really hope we're not facing a scenario where none of Tibbs, Yesavage or Christian Moore are there for the Cubs. I'd still be ok with Cam Smith, but he doesn't excite me like the others. If Cam was gone too, I guess I just swing for the fences with Honeycutt.
  19. It's actually kind of amazing that Jed is willing just to go down with the ship rather than make any effort to actually improve the team. He just keeps cycling in other team's cast off relievers and the same AAAA washout position players. Then he'll make some comment about how the improvements have to come internally while ignoring the guys in the minors who might actually be able to help the team.
  20. Absolutely anything and everything to avoid making a move with actual substance.
  21. If TSJ slips out of the 1st I expect we'll hear very shortly after that he's suing his accuser and the DA.
  22. Did we think he was going to be this bad? No. Did we think he was going to be what his peripherals suggested he was, a mid 3 ERA reliver? Yup. There's no way he should have gotten the contract he did. You could have had Robertson on a one year deal for nearly the same money.
