  1. I like it but don't love it. Of course, snagging a few HS guys and bribing them away from college (a la McNutt) could change the looks of that considerably. Guys like Wells and McNutt were taken pretty late, so I don't think it's too late for Wilken to add some good pitching tomorrow. Whitenack, Struck, Beeler were taken late as well Whitenack wasn't late. Off the top, 8th round, I think. Your right, my bad

Struck and Beeler, along with McNutt, have been our key late round over-slots from the last few years that are doing well in the minors right now. I think he's referring to Randy Wells who went in the 38th round.

  4. We're going with a lot of prep players early. That sure is different than I'm used to.
  5. Ever since Colvin was stabbed by the bat, he's been awful. Wonder if this has a little bit to do with his struggles. What did he do in spring training?
  6. jimcallisBA Jim Callis #Cubs taking Baez here. Best bat speed in draft. Typical high-upside Tim Wilken pick. #mlbdraft
  7. keithlaw keithlaw Baez? Tim Wilken marches to his own drummer. RT @JohnDeRango: @keithlaw what will the Cubs do at 9?
  8. jimcallisBA Jim Callis Got word: #Diamondbacks getting Archie Bradley at 7. That's a pretty incredible arm at 7. #mlbdraft
  9. JonathanMayoB3 Jonathan Mayo #nationals look like they will stop the Rendon slide #mlbdraft
  10. How bout shocking Cubs fans with a player that could contribute on a world series winning team
  11. I will now be happy if he takes any of the previous players that were mentioned.
  12. That Tennessee bullpen with Harris, Beliveau, Rhoderick and Dolis look great
  13. I was just looking at this thread for a laugh today
  14. Man the whole team besides Pena and Fukudome sure like to hack
  15. Clearly he doesn't want us having a high draft pick
  16. I think if he started against lefties he'd be good (not that I'm advocating it). But he clearly isn't a pinch hitter I don't think.
