  1. This guy seems like a good 4th to 6th round pick. It looks like he has both speed and power and can also play some defense.
  2. Brett Eibner hit 3 homeruns yesterday to bring his season total to 21. Does anybody know if that power can translate to wood?
  3. They better not be thinking we need someone who has a low ceiling but will go quickly. We don't need someone to go quickly because are AAA and AA have some good pitchers almost ready (Casey Coleman, Jay Jackson, Thomas Diamond and Hung Wen Chen). Not to mention we are not very good and everybody will just be a year older when he would come up, so I would rather take a high upside guy.
  4. BA also mentioned that Grandal's bonus demand rumors might be a ploy by the Red Sox to get him to drop to them. Whoops. It looks like every mock is in agreement that we will probably take O'Conner if he is there. I'm wondering where Law heard that we are connected to DeShields, because i haven't heard that from any other site.
  5. I have a hard time believing that the Royals would give over 6.5 million (what Posey got) to a player that is borderline top 7 player.
  6. I'm surprised I didn't think that he would be going that early in the top 10 especially with the bonus demands he made. Didn't he want more money than Posey?
  7. I think we need to either get a guy with serious power or speed. That's why I like Choice or Sale if they drop or take someone like DeShields.
  8. Keith Law's new mock I like the idea of getting DeShields and getting a serious base stealer.
  9. Hak Ju Lee hit his first career homerun in the first inning.
  10. Starlin Castro is 2-2 with a run and 2 RBI.
  11. Starlin Castro singled in his first AA at bat. He worked it to a 3-1 count before singling.
  12. He is dominating AA right now.
  13. :yahoo: Now I hope we can sign Keenyn Walker and i will be happy.
  14. http://cubsminors.wikispaces.com/HarrisonJ Harrison actually has some pretty good speed 10 SB in like 20 games. But he doesn't hit for enough power to be anything except a MI.
  15. Jackson was demoted today. SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce a series of roster moves Thursday. RHP Chris Carpenter has been promoted from High-A Daytona. In a corresponding roster move, RHP Jay Jackson has been sent to Daytona. Carpenter was 6-4 with a 2.19 ERA in 20 games started between Daytona and Low-A Peoria. In 98.2 innings pitched, he allowed 30 runs (24 earned) on 70 hits, with 41 walks and 93 strikeouts. In five starts with Daytona, he posted a 2-1 record. He allowed seven runs (four earned) on 15 hits, walking eight and striking out 33. Carpenter was selected by the Cubs in the third round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. Jackson was 5-5 with a 3.70 ERA in 16 games started with Tennessee. I n 82.2 innings pitched he allowed 35 runs (34 earned) on 73 hits, walked 41 and struck out 93. Jackson was drafted by the Cubs organization in the ninth round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft. He was supposed to start for Daytona after the demotion.
  16. And Jay Jackson officially demoted to Daytona. Arrrgh. It looks like Jay Jackson might be going to the pirates according to the Transaction page.
  17. http://community.post-gazette.com/blogs/pbc/archive/2009/07/30/pirates-talking-grabow-gorzelanny-with-cubs.aspx#comments Pirates fans think that they have a chance at getting Vitters. Are they crazy?
  18. I was reading on the Jim Callis chat that some of the teams have deals in place with players but wont be able to announce them for at least a week. There has only been one way over slot signing announced, so there is a good chance the Cubs have already got deals in place with some of the people.
  19. I don't think that we would have to take Maggs back because there talking about us paying some of MB salary and Maggs makes like 18 mil this year i think.
  20. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/david-kaplan-chicago-sports/2009/07/can-it-be-are-the-tigers-after-milton-bradley.html Dave Kaplan
  21. I might be going to the Daytona Cubs game depending on how the forecast looks.
  22. Ill give it 1 more bad start before the Jay Jackson is broken talk. I'm not saying he is broken but he might have hit a wall because this is his first full season.
  23. Jay Jackson is starting to struggle like he was at the start of the season.
