  1. why is that nice to see? That he's not buying into this deal making the Brewers the favorites.
  2. No. However, he did say the Cubs would be 5 or 6 games out of first by the All-Star break like you did. Actually, he didn't say that. You can live with that comment by yourself. :rotfl:
  3. He hits on much of what I mentioned yesterday in the C.C. thread. Nice to see that he realizes this just makes the Brewers better, but not better then us. http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=21405
  4. Meaning that you don't want to hear it if they collapse as they had the chance to bury the division before September?
  5. During this brutal stretch, the Cubs went 10-13 on the road and 7-2 at home, giving them a 17-15 mark. If I'm not mistaken, the Cubs started this stretch with a 2.5 lead on the Cardinals and 7 over the Brewers. They increased the lead over the Cardinals but lost 3.5 to the Brewers. That said, they survived this stretch and actually have a bigger 1st place lead now then they did when it started. The Cubs now enjoy home cooking for quite a while (19 out of 29) and being that they are dominant at home, I look for them to pull away a little bit more over the next 30 days.
  6. Yea, after Billy Wagner choked away another save chance. I saw that. It was very Brewer-esque.
  7. So wait, you are scoreboard watching? In early July??? For the wild card race?!?! Nope. It was announced on the ESPN Yankees/Red Sox game.
  8. Look out, Milwaukee. The Mets won tonight and are getting closer.
  9. Which is why they'll be watching the post season again this year like every one of the last 26 years. That pen gives new meaning to the name: "Gas can". Their run differential looks a whole lot likes last years team. They still look like a very streaky team. Sure does. I want Hendry to make a move not so much to "trump" the Brewers, but to add depth for the playoffs. When I first heard the news on Sebathia I was like: "Crap, Hendry needs to match it". After looking at what the Brewers have, I am not too concerned about them. We need a starter for a WS run, not to match Milwaukee.
  10. ](*,) dave kingman: 608 BB, 1816 K in 7429 PAs. (8.1% walk rate, 24.4% strikeout rate). career OBP: .302 prince fielder: 190 BB, 327 K in 1759 PAs (10.8% walk rate, 18.5% strikeout rate). career OBP: .366 Augh! Meaning that he will likely end up being that type of player. Prince will be a DH in 5 years and will do nothing but swing for the fences as his career moves on.
  11. So, at worst the offense is a wash. And the starters? And the pen? Mets and Mets. The Brewers aren't that good. hitter VORP this year: brewers 107.2, mets 99.9 pitcher VORP this year: brewers 85.5, mets 64.6 other than that your analysis is spot on. and really, the fact that someone is arguing that the brewers' rotation - with sabathia - is inferior to the mets rotation... that kinda makes my brain explode. Not inferior and not much better, if at all. Again, the Brewers will be home again starting in October because of their pen. You can look at 2007 as case and point and it's just as bad this year, actually worse.

  13. Who cares about last year? We're talking about this year. And Lee has clearly been better, offensively and defensively. ok well if we're evaluating teams like that, then ryan ludwick and aubrey huff are better than mark teixeira and miguel cabrera. I don't think Fielder's 2007 is necessarily indicative of what he will produce on a consistent basis. He's a fairly one dimensional hitter who could end up a lot like his father. I guess we can, but as Xzero pointed out, Fielder is like his Dad, or a Dave Kingman like hitter. He's all or nothing. If you are going player for player, Lee is a far better player then Fielder.
  14. So, at worst the offense is a wash. And the starters? And the pen? Mets and Mets. The Brewers aren't that good.
  15. Lee has better numbers then Fielder pretty much across the board. And that's with Lee having perhaps his worst stretch as a Cub mixed in. That, too.
  16. This post has me laughing out loud. I never would want to envision Hendry in a barrel.
  17. Lee has better numbers then Fielder pretty much across the board.
  18. DeRosa is far better then Weeks. DeRo could have been an All-Star as far as I'm concerned. Fatty is not better then Lee. Derrek has better numbers, is a FAR better defender and runs the bases 10x better. Cameron?
  19. The Cubs offense is better the Brewers WITHOUT Soriano. As far as (b) goes, that spot will be occupied by the Phillies or Mets. The Mets aren't that good. For the wild card they are. Stack them up against the Brewers and who would you take? Starters? Maybe a slight edge to Milwaukee. Pen? Mets, easily. Offense? Mets. I would take the Brewers offense 10 days a week over the Mets. Not really. Actually, not at all.

  22. To all the Brewers fans lurking here: How did having an 8.5 lead last year, with a better offense, pithing staff and bullpen work out for you? You have C.C. but a horrid pen and a very hit and miss offense. Good luck with that. Hendry is going to get another starter and you guys will be watching the playoffs yet again.
  23. And much to the dismay of CubsGM: http://www.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/97/4/AAAAAg6JCkwAAAAAAJdJ7Q.jpg Eat it, Cardinals. Welcome to 3.5 back again.
