  1. Right, but its also lazy to see why the Hawks lost that series. Its much more than just blaming it on an unlucky bounce(to me that is a real meatball stance) Anyway Joel Quenneville confirms after practice that Patrick Sharp will miss 3-4 weeks There's always got to be *reasons*. That's how you end up with people who hate Cutler and love Ryan Theriot. Right, or substitute Theriot for McGowan(as the meatball callers on B&B called him)

  3. Lack of depth LAST year. Meatball? I'm the furthest from it. Did you see the Minnesota series? The Hawks talent overcame it, but it only took them so far. You are blinded by the fact that the Hawks fought their way back to game 7 OT in the WCF And you're blinded by the fact that a puck deflected in during OT of game 7. Winners win, losers lose, etc. If you're writing off 2016 and 2017 because of some doofy cap spreadsheet, then yes, you're meatballing pretty hard. Yes the puck deflected in game 7, but obviously you don't realize the Hawks were very fortunate to get that far. I think you better just stick to baseball and look up definition of meatball. As for 2016 and 2017 they wont be as strong as the are right now that is obvious. Unless you think a 38 year old Hossa is somehow better than a 35 year old Hossa.

You are blinded by the fact that the Hawks fought their way back to game 7 OT in the WCF, and lost on a fluke goal. It doesn't change the fact that their depth is what put them in that hole to begin with.
  5. Did you watch the series? I think not. Yes they lost on a bad bounce, but they essentially played that series with 3 lines and 5 defensemen. Did you see LA? They had Mike Richards on the 4th line. Stick to baseball Wow. They must have lost like 4-1 then with that kind of a disadvantage. I can't remember because I didn't watch the series, of course. Well I was interviewing for sports talk radio of course. They almost did lose 4-1, game 5 went to double OT.

  7. If only they had one of the deepest and highest-rated farm systems in the game. Then maybe they'd be in position to replenish that depth... Is this where you show me that the Rockford Ice Hogs are in first place? Besides what was the main reason they lost the series vs LA last spring? LA was much deeper. Their farm system is very good, but it will not be enough to overcome the losses next summer. They should win 2 or 3 more Cups by the time Kane and Toews retire, but don't count on 2016 or 2017
  8. http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team-rankings The bigger question facing the Hawks is whether there are any true first / second line and first pairing players there. When Hossa goes he will probably be backfilled by a FA, as he essentially replaced Havlat. The bigger question is Sharp and whether Saad steps into that role or Teuvo is so good at C that Saad doesn't have to score that much. The Hawks should be fine for a very long time. Stan drafts well (though he's not setting the world on fire at goalie or wing) and he's generally done a nice job in making trades that yield good results (including Versteeg, by the way). The brewing problem is Q's reliance on veterans and seeming unwillingness to let young guys get the minutes they need to develop (TVR, Morin, Leddy (when he was here), Rundbland, etc.). We'll see. Other than TT, they don't have much top end talent. 2016 and 2017 might look a bit like 2011 and 2012, due to the cap problem next year, that's assuming it goes up 5 million. It might go up more but this year its increase was less than expected. Hawks will lose Oduyla, Sharp, and maybe even Seabrook. Will the drop off be that great?
  9. It's a stretch to call him a star. And he was the only guy to trade and potentially get back a haul. The haul wasn't there, other teams knew the Hawks were against the cap. If Stan found a deal I'm sure he would have been gone. But that being said the cap crunch coming Im glad they kept Sharp for another Cup run. Probably wont make a serious run again until 2018. Probably won't make a serious run again until 2018, LOL. As long as they have Toews, Kane, Hossa (if he doesn't rapidly age), and Keith, they've got a chance every year. Their depth will be gone. LOL
  10. 6th best is about right. I would go Toews Keith Kane Hossa Hammer Sharp

What are you going on about? Saying that keeping Sharp was the right move to win another cup this season. Summer of 2015 will be bad, not quite as bad as 2010. And Sharp is a star.

  14. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2014/11/04/the-bernstein-brief-well-always-have-pensacola/ I knew his Grandfather helped write Casablanca, but when he said "We will always have Pensacola" I didn't get it while watching the press conference. Nice catch by Bernstein.
  15. Hooray Curtis Enis. The Bears would have drafted Ryan Leaf instead of Manning.
  16. I'm sure the Bears will [expletive] it up in the 2nd half and finish 7-9 or even 8-8. Split with Detroit and Minnesota(2-2) split with Dallas and New Orleans(1-1) beat Tampa and of course lose to GB.
  17. Check out vegasinsiders, Cubs are at 25-1 as of this morning(I cant check at work, firewall) they are in line with most of the strip hotels. Shop around, some might be closer to 50-1.
  18. 99% sure Raanta is waiver exempt. Right, Myers was saying the other day Raanta does not have to clear waivers. Moot issue though, or at least it should be. Hmm, Committed Indian must be wrong. I would think Darling would be sent down anyway to get more playing time than he would as Crawford's backup.
  19. On a positive note their Goals against is very promising. Aside from the damn shorthanded goals they have given up already. Three
  20. The Blackhawks thru 9 games this season have scored 21 goals, last season they started off slow as well with 24 thru 9 games. Not too worried.
  21. That message board is a snapshot of the Sox fanbase as a whole. They always have had an inferiority complex with the Cubs, even after winning in 2005.
  22. If the Cubs were to have a WS clincher at home, I would think SRO would be at least $2500. All those retired blue hairs from Iowa have money. Hopefully we find out within the next 4 years.
  23. I think Raanta has to clear waivers if he were to be sent down to Rockford. Probably want another look at Darling. They know what they have with Raanta. When Crawford is back later this week I would think Darling gets sent back.
  24. Darling gets the start tonight. Crawford will travel with the team to Ottawa.
  25. This is great! If it does happen I'm sure it will be after the WS ends.
