It's the same infatuation people had with Choi, Hill, Harris, etc. In some people's eyes, youth > proven veteran in every case. In the above mentioned players, i don't regret trading one of them. Choi got us Derrek Lee Hill got us ARam Harris got us Nomar Dubois got us Gerut Of the first three Lee and Nomar, were both Above average Vets and Nomar filled a hole. Aram was more a project, he always had talent, put up great minor league numbers and had a great 2001. He was injured in 2002 but played through it, resulting in a horrible year. 2003 he was playing better, and he filled a hole. We had Grudz playing well at 2B thus making Hill tradeable. Gerut has had a decent year, in 2003, but it was so far out of line with everything he's shown in previous years, and he has continued to regress since 2003. Aram improved after his horrible 2002. Gerut has not shown signs of returning to form, doesn't fill any hole I can see, and was trded for someone who has had a bad 150 AB in the majors and an imperssive 1,600 Ab in the minors. His 2003 just screams fluke to me. I hope I'm wrong.
