  1. Welly is pitching a nice game in Iowa: 5.0IP 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 3K
  2. Tonight's performance by Hollandsworth should not be emulated by Murton. A CS and a GIDP. Yikes. But of course Dusty will trot Hollandsworth(less) out tomorrow. They said Dusty said Gerut would get the start tommorrow. Lopez irritates me, he always gets on base against us. Wow. Dusty not using his boy Holly against a righty? That's strange. He has a new toy.
  3. Welcome to the board! The people here that like Dunn, like him because his prowess at walking and hitting HRs.
  4. More posts like this, plz. We haven't seen enough of them. Wow, way to welcome him to the board.
  5. For what ever reason Mlb.com list no HBP in the splits, but 8 overall. That is the sorce of it, it's an error on thier part.
  6. Gerut in AAA '05: 48AB 3HR 6BB 7K .438/.518/.729 At least that is encouraging as far as his power returning. If he can manage a .450 or so SLG to go with his OPB, I will say it's an ok trade, otherwise I don't feel like we've improved the club.
  7. I believe that is what Cpatterson20 was getting at. And I was adding on. Is it okay for me to do that? It is a message forum after all. Wow, tonight is not a good PR night for me. Rap Sucks. :)
  8. It's the same infatuation people had with Choi, Hill, Harris, etc. In some people's eyes, youth > proven veteran in every case. In the above mentioned players, i don't regret trading one of them. Choi got us Derrek Lee Hill got us ARam Harris got us Nomar Dubois got us Gerut Of the first three Lee and Nomar, were both Above average Vets and Nomar filled a hole. Aram was more a project, he always had talent, put up great minor league numbers and had a great 2001. He was injured in 2002 but played through it, resulting in a horrible year. 2003 he was playing better, and he filled a hole. We had Grudz playing well at 2B thus making Hill tradeable. Gerut has had a decent year, in 2003, but it was so far out of line with everything he's shown in previous years, and he has continued to regress since 2003. Aram improved after his horrible 2002. Gerut has not shown signs of returning to form, doesn't fill any hole I can see, and was trded for someone who has had a bad 150 AB in the majors and an imperssive 1,600 Ab in the minors. His 2003 just screams fluke to me. I hope I'm wrong.
  9. AAA in '04: .316/.389/.630/1.019 31HR in 386AB He's shown the ability to hit for a decent average, walk at decent rate, and crush the ball. I just wish he would have gotten hot in the one shot he got, oh well.
  10. career Minor league number: Dubois: .299/.379/.550/.929 in 1633AB .5 BB/K Gerut: .290/.386/.448/.884 in 1365AB 1.1 BB/K Gerut walks a little more, strike out a lot less, and hits for a good deal less power. Bleh.
  11. Only in 2003 did he post good power numbers, around a .500 SLG between AAA and MLB. It looks like that year could easily be an abberation. He's never done much better than .460 in any other year.
  12. I don't like this move at all. Jody has shown no power this year (a .370 SLG), he's been getting on base at an ok clip (.351), infact his number look a heack of a lot like Hairston's. Except that Hairston as shown more pop this year. Also, If you judge based soley on OPS, Dubois has had the better year thus fa,r due to his massive SLG edge.
  13. Maybe Murton intentionally bunted foul so Dusty would let him swing away.... Maybe not.
  14. Why does Dusty make rookies, who never bunt in the minors because they are #3-4 hole hitters, sac but for him?
  15. Yeah, that would be pretty interesting. I think they could do this deal, add a ML ready starting pitcher (maybe by trading Mota?) and still compete for the Wild Card. I didn't realize how good Hermida was until I looked at his stats. I didn't know he had such a good eye. His stats remind me a lot of a certain Philly outfielder... Hermida (in AA): .295/.452/.519 19/20 SB 14 HR 75 BB 67K (278 AB) Abreu (in 05): .299/.422/.509 22/27 SB 18 HR 71 BB 69 K (338 AB) If the Marlins get rid of Lowell they coud easily still take the wildcard if Hermida plays well and someone steps up to replace Burnett (such as Vargas, who will debut tonight). Although, those are two big ifs, it sure makes things interesting.
  16. So if the marins moved lowell, I assume Cabrera goes back to 3B. Do they then use Bigbie as a bench bat and bring up Hermida for LF? That could be an interesting line up.
  17. Are bodyslams tracked in your league? And to the guy that had never seen the Farns-Wilson fiasco... if you go back to the MLB game recap from whatever day that happened, there should be a link to the video on that page. At least there used to be last season, so I would assume that it's still there. This says it has the video but I can't get it to work....maybe you have to subscribe to something? It works, thanks.
  18. And yet, he's better at second than Hairston. Yay, '95 Wildcats! yep and I am better than basketball than you so I guess the Bulls should call me up. Because Rasin plays for the Bulls? I'm confused. No i just mean because one guy is better than another doesnt mean he should be playing there. Walker sucks at fielding he just happens to suck less than Hairston at 2b So who should be playing there?

  20. I think Lee should play for Japan, it only makes slightly less sense than A-rod playing for the DR.
