    I wouldn't consider it an injustice as much as it's proof that wins is a stat that has no place in competent discussion about quality of pitcher. This game was complete bullcrap, with the obvious exceptions of people named either Carlos or Fuku. Agreed.

    It was disappointing, but it definitely wasn't the worst thing that could have happened. We got a good start out of Z, Fukudome looked great, and the first 8 innings was an all around old school, low scoring affair. Theriot needs addressing, yes, but let's give him a bit of time to prove himself.

    Heels got tripped up early tonight by Washington State's ability to slow it down to a half court game, but Ellington and Green adjusted and came up big time, and the defense was solid and held things down.

    Oh well, a slugfest. Some entertaining moments. A couple of MONSTER home runs. A tie. Wasn't a bad game to watch.

    I was about to log on and complement Cedeno's defensive playing from the first inning. But the all around defense on that Weeks triple-error=home run was awful. It's a wash.

    you're misremembering. if this were the Cubs, we'd be told he would be ready for Opening Day. then he'd miss one start then he'd be ready for the home opener then he'd be out 2-3 weeks then he'd be out until June 1 THEN he'd go on the 60 day DL, retroactive to Spring Training That's more like it. But it is sad, the way his career has spiraled out of control to the point that being healthy is a surprise.

Do you believe that there is a Curse preventing the Cubs from going to the World Series? Who knows, there could be something, but probably not. It is just brought up over and over again by haters and the media. if Yes, do you think it can be broken? If there is, this is the year. :) 5. Do you believe that some fans use the Curse as an excuse for the Cubs loses? Yes 6. What reasons can you give to explain why the Cubs haven't had a World Series win in 100 years? Bad management tactics, poor development, some unlucky blows, people leaning on the curse as an excuse and subconsciously under performing.

    Pie puts it away, and the day is ours. Good work, folks. Z gave up some runs, but he did strike out 5. He'll be ready for the season.

    I think we all have decently high expectations for Fukudome, and there are those who argue he and other Japan league transplants shouldn't be considered rookies. They don't think about how tough the transition must be though, so I'll give Fukudome the benefit of the doubt. With Soto, I really like it. I think he's going to be good for us this year. Glad our 'youngsters' are getting some recognition

    That's definitely the way to look at it. We can't be totally sure that he's going to need to be replaced unless we give him at least a bit of a shot. It's a moderate risk, and the organization should have a serious backup plan concerning Cedeno and others, but we shouldn't write Ryan off just yet.

    I agree, the club looks pretty solid as is, and with the aforementioned Johnson/Patterson doings it looks even more solid.
