  1. Can we just sign Yu already and end this sham mojos got going on
  2. Wooop looking forward to this
  3. Yeah, I guess in that case I pass on both of them. I agree that Darvish is the better value at that point, but I don't actually think it's necessarily good value. if your plan is to develop young hitters and buy established veteran pitchers, you have to accept the fact that you're not going to be getting awesome value on the pitching side. the cubs really need another good starting pitcher, and there aren't a ton of options out there. i'm all about the future and longevity, but i also want to be really good next year. Yup. You can get the “value” ones year to year, but you need the aces too
  4. Are there any big name pitchers available next offseason? Who would the most likely ones be?
  5. Ok. Board 1, Minny 0
  6. If you havent been a fan of the dl in the nl, i blame you
  7. I'd much, much rather have Harper for a wide variety of reasons. Yea. Me too
  8. Yes. With instant replay it really should be this easy
  9. If you aint cheat’n you aint try’n
  10. And no children were eaten
  11. Maybe well have new ownership by then. One can dream. In other news, Rodgers looked like crap yesterday. Maybe thats a trend.
  12. It could and maybe it should, but it probably won't. The point is I wouldn't put 10-6 as a bare minimum for Pace to return. If they improve to 9-7 next year, or even 8-8, and Trubisky takes a step forward, then bringing in a new GM after all that leaves you in another lame duck coach/QB situation. The new GM will then get a few years to evaluate both Mitch and whoever Pace hires this offseason, then after 2 years he can clean house and start fresh from there. I don't really like that idea. Trubisky taking a step forward will depend on the wr position and better coaching. If he gets that and the defense stays healthy, theres enough talent to be at 9-7. If the get lucky a few games, i could see that team get to 11-5. But with likely coach turnover i could just as easily see a 5-7 win team. Then what do you do? Dump Pace to leave an unwanted coaching staff for a new GM? I think Pace will get 2 more years.
  13. All the more reason to forget about Lovie and the past. We have young talent on the offensive side of the ball and a gm willing to draft for both it and the Oline. Im not done with Pace
  14. Also, the Bears shouldn't have fired Lovie. Lovie is pretty much John Fox I couldn't think of two coaches who had more differences in their career paths. well maybe I could, but your statement is drunk-man talk
  15. Not at all. Just pointing out that the Bears have been bad for 25 years, and that even includes a 9-year stint of decent football. Also, the Bears shouldn't have fired Lovie. It was a stupid decision. Weren't they 10-6 that year? But Emery's gotta get his man! Emery was the biggest mistake this org has made in the last 32 years.
  16. Lovie overplayed his power after the super bowl lost, never settled the qb position, rode the cover 2 past our ability to supply it with talent, and hasnt been able to repeat that success since he was fired. He was clearly the best coach we've had since Ditka/Ryan, but to long for the days of Lovie is just revisionist. Would I take him over Fox? yes. Would I bring him back? no. Most of this is true, and yet they've had much worse head coaches since then. I don’t mean to say i hated Lovie as a coach, he was a very good coach. And Trestman and Fox both sucked coaching the Bears mightily. But even John Fox made it to more super bowls and has repeated his level of success on multiple teams. I miss the teams of the Lovie Smith era. I don’t really miss Lovie that much.
  17. and if you think Trubisky looked off today, check out Rivers against KC.
  18. Is this a "The Bears shouldn't have fired Lovie" take? Because that's not a good take. if it's a "lovie was much better than most give him credit for" take I'm on board.Lovie overplayed his power after the super bowl lost, never settled the qb position, rode the cover 2 past our ability to supply it with talent, and hasnt been able to repeat that success since he was fired. He was clearly the best coach we've had since Ditka/Ryan, but to long for the days of Lovie is just revisionist. Would I take him over Fox? yes. Would I bring him back? no.
  19. Id love to get Darvish. More so then Archer. A lot more
  20. I cant believe Loggains would get that position, but ownership of this team is really stupid so who knows
