  1. Theory: most starters like to start a game with a strike. There is a high likely hood the first pitch of the game will be a FB Now heres the kicker: Almora happens yo be offensively good at one thing: hitting fastballs Proposition: tell Almora to swing at the first pitch he sees while leading off
  2. Respectfully disagree, given the relatively uncharted territory-nature of his success. That's not saying he's likely to fall off of a cliff, but I'd be pretty surprised if he was a 4-4.5+ WAR player on a regular basis, if even just or how his style of play has a good chance of landing him on the DL and/or declining sooner rather than later.
  3. "..had to do"? It just seems like his style of play. He's always been a bit of a magic-show infielder and is being watched for that far more this year I think. Dude, he's not being valued more simply because more people are paying attention to him. dude, I'm not saying he will be valued more. I'm saying he is more likely then not to play the way he has this season next season. I'm saying he is getting a lot more attention for it this year then years past.
  4. I will refuse to doubt Baez until he proves doubtable, but it is dubious that he is the only person in the history of the world to have his particular skillset. I will say that his patience has ticked up the last couple months (13 walks the last two months [lol that's an improvement]) so maybe he can Sammy Sosa himself into 50 walks next year? He had to do that this year to keep this team competitive w/o Bryant. He will not do that next year, but Bryant and Harper will make up for it. "..had to do"? It just seems like his style of play. He's always been a bit of a magic-show infielder and is being watched for that far more this year I think.
  5. nothing in sports will ever come close to 2016 for me, but this end-of-season disaster followed by running the table in the playoffs and inexplicably winning the world series would probably come as close as possible. that scenario would mean permanent liver damage for me, I'm sure of it
  6. "...people act like the minor league system can not be replenished.." - our youthful and hopeful leader
  7. sweet. maybe he can play ss
  8. oh no what will we do without him for one game we'll lose. we'll actually score more runs w/o him, but we'll still lose.
  9. horsefeathers that I want championships and socialism
  10. even if the stuff he said wasn’t just blindly grasping at threads of optimism, no underlying team quality would make you comfortable with a half game lead over the brewers and the teams’ remaining schedules. drugs, tree. the answer is drugs.
  11. this actually exists? Are you asking if WGN actually created this testament to Cubs sadness? Yes. Yes, they did. that they created it, yes I believe that. That it still exists? Even in the infinite ether of the inter-webs, I cannot fathom how it hasn't been permanently and completely destroyed.
  12. its how fracking became to plentiful in your state-Dylan mind contol
  13. Doubtful. MaddoningTM has tried just about every lineup possibility there is, both good and bad. Multiple players can’t even get “lukewarm” at the same time. And they can’t seem to bunch hits together to score runs (when they actually hit). I keep waiting for the offense to get back to normal at some point this year, and it really hasn’t happened. Hopefully, this is not the new normal. I'm an optimist
  14. I'm sure the crowd is tense and its having an effect on the players. Injuries haven't helped. but when you lead off with Murphy, you're more likley to suck. Cubs are doing it to themselves. A decent line up card could probably pull them through it but Hippie Ditka has to act smart
  15. Honestly? I feel like they’ve earned it at this point.
  16. Bears fans are genetically engineered to pine for horsefeathers backup QBs to play Because we always had questionable at best starters. So we should default to the shittier back ups?
  17. considering how well the training staff has handled our pitchers this year, KB is fucked
  18. if we cant get rid of Maddon for his support of Addi and we cant get rid of Maddon for leading off Murphy and we cant get a decent game from Contreras then horsefeathers it.....I'm pulling for the A's
  19. KBs gonna whack like 35 dongs next year That sounds horrible
