  1. The KR unit loses yards every damn kick
  2. the mets exist hell, the blackhawks exist Jets Lions Texans
  3. never bet the under with the McCasckeys, it had to be true (I'm joking)
  4. I don't think that's the case given that its not some random twitter rumor and the fact that the Chicago media ran with it big time. Either they got some details incorrect or the plan changed after it blew up or both (like: the decision was made but Nagy was NOT told on Monday, with everything blowing up they decided to wait until the end of the season). Nagy's lack of effusive denial, the weird cancelling of all meetings, etc. Too much smoke to be totally untrue. totally plausible. weird all the way around really
  5. or, the Patch just decided to run with a totally untrue rumor
  6. this sounds horrific https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32706428/minnesota-vikings-de-everson-griffen-refuses-leave-home-firing-weapon "I'm in my house. N----- trying to pop me," Griffen said in the video. "I've still got clips left. This is my gun, .45 Wilson Combat, registered to me. I bought all my bullets around town. Dalvin Cook helped me purchase this gun. It all belongs to me, and they are registered to me. I know exactly where I bought them. I've got the card I have them on. I have everything."
  7. "a" game? I feel like its been 4 or 5 games that everyone knew he was a lame duck There's a huge difference between a literal lame duck, if that's what's going on and a presumed one. like what, acceptance (on the ownership part)?
  8. "a" game? I feel like its been 4 or 5 games that everyone knew he was a lame duck
  9. WTF are you talking about? Yes they do. Ownership owes a ton of information. If this ownership, in this season, with all the circumstances surrounding it don't owe any information to anybody, then nobody owes anybody any information, ever. or what, Chicago residents will go scorched earth and burn down Halas Hall? As I posted above, the McCaskeys have long ago set an expectation of cowardice & general ineptitude. If those were things that could effect their power over the franchise, the results have long ago taken hold. Why would this year be any different? sell the team, ya schmucks
  10. I have to admit, I dont think I've ever experienced that. Maybe the Berry Sanders years, but like, 2 years tops Just detroit fans in general. I used to work with a lot of them. They were relentlessly annoying when the Lions went 9-1 against the Bears during the 10's. Pistons fans still hate the Bulls and Red Wings fans were horsefeathers during their dynasty. My favorite is one season the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason and every morning when I came into work this co-worker would come over and brag about how the Lions were going to stomp the Bears and was talking about how the Lions were better at every position except Linebacker. He pushed me into making a bet for whenever the first Bears/Lions game was that year where the loser had to wear the winners jersey to work for an entire week. The season started and....well this was the year the Lions went 0-16. He shut up pretty quickly. But the next summer after FA he started talking about how great of an offseason the Lions had and how they 'completely closed the gap'. Come to think of it, that co-worker definitely shaped/skewed my opinion of Detroit fans, but he's not the only annoying one I've encountered in person or online by a long shot. you should try living in Minneapolis some time. They actually like the Bears a bit, loved calling the Metrodome the "RollerDome" a la Ditka, but holy hell do they get loud for a franchise who cant win (or more recently get to ) a SB
  11. I'm kind of happy to give Detroit a win. those folks need something to celebrate I'm fine if we lose but I'm not happy to give Detroit a win. As soon as those fans get a whiff of superiority they become annoying af I have to admit, I dont think I've ever experienced that. Maybe the Berry Sanders years, but like, 2 years tops
  12. I feel like trying to get Geo and Mikey to act like a 21st century org is truly defeating on a personal level. If thats what you want, you should be all for a quick sale to Bezos or some other like-minded megarich dude I do mostly agree there. Things had seemingly improved a little with George as far as org optics like this go. So I was a little optimistic they were back to like mostly in over their head and not completely. But perhaps my optimism got the best of me. i wouldn't mind Bezos as long as he has decided to step away from Amazon and really focus on developing the Bears, mainly. but I worry the Bears would just be a trophy for him..
  13. the McCaskey brothers have always been accused of being spineless going back to Ditka. True or not, its what they do I can get the desire to be above the rumor mill chatter to a large extent, but given everything I think it's an awful decision to let your coach and players away in the wind with this all. "No decisions have been made regarding the contracts of any coach or front office staff. The Bears organization remain committed to winning and will continue to evaluate our progress towards that goal. Each persons primary goal in the organization is on the Detroit Lions game this week." Somehthing like that is all that's really needed if the leak is mostly BS. If the leak is mostly true, there isn't a great response, but I do think the leak is a big issue then and a bad sign. I feel like trying to get Geo and Mikey to act like a 21st century org is truly defeating on a personal level. If thats what you want, you should be all for a quick sale to Bezos or some other like-minded megarich dude
  14. I'm kind of happy to give Detroit a win. those folks need something to celebrate
  15. I agree they don't owe info. But again, who leaked it. If Pace/Ted/George.. Yikes. If someone else, why did they know? I guess maybe the slightly larger circle of the board maybe knew? But you've got a bad leak from that group too. That's just not a great organizarional sign IMO. If the leak is true in entirety, that's a face-palm decision IMO. The only outcome that makes me feel somewhat better is if the leak is primarily false. Let's say that "he's a dead amn walking" comment was miscommunicated or something along those lines. But I think they may be best suited to put out some response now, especially after the Biggs report. the McCaskey brothers have always been accused of being spineless going back to Ditka. True or not, its what they do
  16. nah, if anything, not saying anything seems to be confirming their is something to the leak. Leaking it is probably the easy way of saying to the media "yo, Nagys toast" The Bears ownership doesnt owe any more information to anyone, really
  17. also, if teams are calling Pace for trades, what pieces would net us the best draft picks in return? Mack Arob Hicks who else?
  18. He's clearly trying to distance himself from Nagy in this situation. The stuff on the broadcast with Romo and how "teams were calling the Bears to trade for their players". Him staying away from making a statement on these rumors. I think Pace's fate is still undecided, but I think they are more tied together than I originally thought. I also don't know why there would be egg on their faces. Everyone knows he's getting fired. He almost got fired after a playoff appearance last year. 3-7 definitely isn't even debatable if he stays. If they lose tomorrow, fire him. Nobody will fault them for firing the coach that gave the Lions their first win on national TV. If they win tomorrow, frame it as a mutual parting of ways. Blame the rumors and stress on his family w/ the chants at the kid's game. He's going to get fired anyway. Who cares if it leaked? Who cares if it's ugly? If everyone knows it, get it over with. Don't leave him and the players hanging on just for the sake of history. Try to salvage some development under an interim coach, get a jump on everyone else in the league in the next hire. Sure it sucks for Nagy and embarrassing the way it came out, but there's not a good way to get fired. I kinda think they told hm "win on T-day or you're fired" and the rumor mill turned it into "you're fired after Thursdays game"
  19. Wild conspiracy theory; McCaskeys sell team to Pace and Nagy for $10 and the promise that Q and his legions are the only ones allowed to attend games at the new Donald Trump Stadium at Arlington Park. Biden is assassinated by Rittenhouse because shut happens and Donny Jr becomes puppet king That has as much validity as Nagy's "productive" meeting
  20. At this point I don't think any other beat writer or anyome has remotely confirmed, right? There may well be something there, but maybe not exactly as it's reported. There hasn't been any independent confirmation yet, but the Bears' FO hasn't issued any denials yet, either. Something clearly is up and my gut is telling me this story broke before the Bears' FO got to talk to Nagy and inform him of his imminent firing. Weirdly enough, this might result in Nagy being spared until after the season due to the McCaskeys trying to save face. the rumor is Nagy was told on Monday that his last game will be Thursday, not that he would be fired on Thursday and hasn't been told yet. Maybe the rumor got it wrong, but thats whats being spread
  21. on one hand it feels like his firing has been building for a long time and inevitable, on the other hand the situation feels knee jerk I'm ready to move on. I feel disappointed in what I thought Nagy would be but never was, but I'm done watching what Nagy has become. What's knee jerk about it? It's been a complete clown show since camp and the handling of the media with the Fields, Jenkins and other situations. Started off decently, another 5 game losing streak, had 2 weeks to build on the best performance of Fields' career and he drops an all too familiar dud against the league's worst pass D. the fact that the Bears have never fired a coach midseason makes it feel knee-jerk, even if it is a result of not firing him at the end of last season.
  22. I think it's weird, but there's precedent for stuff like that happening, sorta. Hendry running the 2011 draft. Cutler said Lovie had informed the team he had been fired before his final game. I'm sure there are many others. precedent doesn't make it not stupid I go back to Hatley running the draft when everybody knew he was gone the next week. It's dumb. on one hand it feels like his firing has been building for a long time and inevitable, on the other hand the situation feels knee jerk I'm ready to move on. I feel disappointed in what I thought Nagy would be but never was, but I'm done watching what Nagy has become.
  23. nvm, I'm confused about the twitter post too
  24. the wheels have definitely come off
