  1. If anyone is interested, they can arrange for pickup before the game at Wrigley, or any time at their convenience in wrigleyville. Cubs v Padres 5/14 Section 224 Row 23 Please mention the forum, because they're listed elsewhere for higher. incrediculous@gmail.com
  2. Just sold them for half of face value outside Wrigley. More ticket hawkers than there are fans out there. And they have a ton of tickets. I just checked on cubs.com, and you can get $70 seats in the 4th row at this very minute. I'm not sure what is going on with the supply of tickets to this game, but it seems like they keep releasing more every day. And nobody really intended to go to this game anyway.
  3. If anybody wants them. Under face value. Pick up just 3 blocks from Wrigley, from 11:30-Noon before game. *Contact info Removed*
  4. Stub Hub prices in far too much mark-up for it to be an effective market place. They take a 25% stake out of each ticket sold through the site. Take a look at the amount of supply on StubHub, and just how little of it is moving. Perhaps the demand hasn't kicked in just yet, but we're approaching opening day and very little supply is changing hands, even for the early games that are almost on us.
  5. Hamilton Happy with the Rangers March 23, 2008 Scouts in Arizona are singing the praises of Rangers center fielder Josh Hamilton, who could be positioned for a monster season. Hamilton, acquired from the Reds for young starter Edinson Volquez, entered the weekend hitting .556 with a 1.572 OPS. He reached base in 13 consecutive plate appearances (10 hits, three walks) at one point. Hamilton, who revived his career after drug-abuse problems, credits his hitting to his new teammates for making him feel comfortable. Hamilton says none of his professional teammates had ever invited him to join them for meals before this spring. He has been a frequent visitor to Ian Kinsler's apartment to watch TV and play video games. "It's all I've ever wanted," Hamilton said. "And I've found it to be that way with all the guys. They've been receptive and treated me as an equal."
  6. And despite the documentary feel of the show, the show doesn't feel like a documentary.
  7. Anyone had luck selling on StubHub? Or is Ebay the way to go? I got 4 to Memorial Day but only anticipate that I'll need 2.
  8. I can't get through anymore. I have twenty tabs open, too. But my Internet died about 30 minutes ago so I had to restart everything. I prolly lost my place in the queue.
  9. You're right. It is part gun problem, the problem being that we legislated into existence defenseless soft-target areas that appeal to the psychological power-trips of unstable individuals. Remove the power disparity by allowing responsible, trained individuals to defend themselves with concealed handguns, and you've removed the opportunity that causes situations like this. The concealed carry program has been very successful. You should look into it. I think you'd find that it's a very effective policy, in an age when policy rarely is. /Texas Democrat Loser
  10. Allow those who have reason to grieve, room to grieve. Doing anything more would be trivial and insincere.
  11. i just started at 11 and got 4 seats (granted they are in the pole sections) to memorial day.

  13. He's a business-of-baseball guy more than most people realize. He owns the Corpus Christi Hooks and the Round Rock Express, one of the most successful minor league teams in the country. He knows what he's doing.
  14. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2008/02/not_juan_gone_after_all.php Without 'roids, he's nothing. St Louis obviously didn't read the Mitchel Report. What are they thinking?
  15. We've already determined that you can't just "choose" to be a die-hard anything. But the Cubs' history is partly what makes it possible for me to pull for them this year as a Chicagoan. If the Cubs were perennial championship winners, I feel like I'd be a band wagoner doing that.
  16. Too many to count. Maybe all of them. If there are holes, I'm sure they're in the National League, and will probably be filled this year.
  17. Even so, when the Canning Group gets word that other bidders may be dropping out or lowering their bids due to the Wrigley-Cubs split, I can imagine they'd adjust their bid appropriately. Unless they like throwing money away. I can't figure why the city should be in the business of owning a ballpark when it has trouble keeping up with its own, basic infrastructural needs.
  18. Sure it does. This is way off topic, but free will is mostly an illusion caused by our inability to see the scope of variables and processes that contribute to the reality around us. But who cares, you know? At least it's a really good illusion. We can't even tell the difference! Can you, really? I sure can't. Who I sleep with just... happens. haha
  19. You don't have to worry about that. Since I was a kid watching Chicago baseball on WGN, I'd always thought the Sox had this negative vibe about them. Like they're a bizarrely-animated gang of cartoon villains from some Saturday-morning cartoon gone wrong. The live in a cold, concrete shell in an urban wasteland, talk a lot of gibberish trash and wear too much black attempting to look "bad." Meanwhile, the Cubs play the fallible protagonist counterparts. A community of affable smurfs who occasionally get it together just enough to keep on keeping on.
  20. If I can't choose my sexual orientation, and I can't choose my baseball allegiance, what the heck can I choose? I think we just obliterated free will. Oh well. I was never a fan of my own decisions anyway.
  21. Good call. It's not like I need a deeply-rooted personal history to enjoy a ball game. And I suppose there's no need to disavow my Rangers. Because with my luck, the minute I do so they'll start winning championships.
  22. After 15 years allegiance to a team, is it possible to make a switch? I don't know that all those years can just be undid and transferred elsewhere. But I just moved from Dallas to Chicago, and figure it's about time to put an end to an era. The Rangers and Tom Hicks are certainly making it easy of late.
  23. That was kind of my thought as well. Right now it seems there's just too much product on the secondary market sites and scarcely any demand at all. The result is a lot of resellers pricing their tickets at or even below face value. Can't imagine that being the case for long. The demand will come. Just gotta wait for it. This was my plan to subsidize my baseball habit (having just moved to Chicago a few blocks from Wrigley, I didn't think I could resist). If it doesn't work, I may be forced to part with my late-season games against St Louis to cover the credit card bill.
  24. I ordered mine the morning the email went out to all wait-listed season ticket holder wannabes (myself included). But being new to Wrigleyville and Chicago, I didn't realize that the 200s were not a good idea due to obstructed views. I was going to get upperdeck, but noticed the resell value was higher in the 200s I plan to sell about 1/2 of them. Though there are actually tickets at face-value on stubhub right now. Which is kinda scary. Guess these May day games just aren't worth much. Think it'll get better? My seats are usually in rows 13-14 (hopefully before the poles), though a couple games are in row 19. Does anyone know what seat numbers are aisles, and closer to poles? I wonder if I should just sell the whole lot and try to get single game tickets for myself in the upper deck like i wanted.
