Buehrle threw 95 pitches despite only going those three innings. Buehrle's outing was over as soon as Lou Marson, who had not homered before in the season, took Buehrle deep with two runners on base to bring his earned run total to six runs. Lifetime against the crosstown rival Cubs, Buehrle is 4-4 with a 4.58 ERA in 11 starts. Cubs: Silva tossed seven innings in his last start in Pittsburgh on Monday, surrendering one run on four hits and got the win. He made history, becoming the first Cubs starter since Ken Holtzman, who went 9-0 in 1967, to open a season with eight wins and no losses. Silva joined some pretty special company, considering the last pitcher in the Major Leagues to do that with any team was CC Sabathia, who went 8-0 in his first 10 starts with the Brewers in 2008. He also became the first Cubs starter to begin his Cubs career 8-0 in 100 years. King Cole started 8-0 back in 1910.
