    That's just not fair. I mean, he needs to rehab somewhere, but in the deciding game of the Carolina League championship? Wow... i was thinking about this earlier. it's hilarious. i mean imagine if some dude came down from some alternate universe where everyone is a super human baseball player to play for us in the play in game This was kind of the story (about a good player, not a superhuman alien) behind the documentary "The Battered Bastards of Baseball" which was about an independent baseball team in Portland who played against minor league baseball teams and they would always make it to the championships but the team they'd face would demote all their higher level players to come in and wipe the floor with them. It's also one of the best sports docs I've seen and I highly recommend it.

    Absolutely freaking not. Hendry sucked balls as a GM. He doesn't deserve credit for leaving some assets. Every team has some assets. Hendry screwed the pooch as GM. He inherited a big budget team with a farm system stacked with pitchers but no hitters (that he was responsible for building), his budget increased every year but he screwed the pooch because of his horrible philosophy and general meatheadedness. This is absolutely correct. How many organizations are there in baseball where if a new GM came in, you could say there are zero assets? FFS, the Brewers, who are in about the same shape as the Cubs 4 years ago, even have "the assets necessary to make trades" also, castro wasn't drafted, he was signed. look at how many failed first rounders there were under hendry. You can pin some of that blame on Tim Wilken, too. What's more sad about the first rounders who failed, is the first rounders they passed up to select those failures instead.

    Awesome home run. The broadcasters use of "Towering drive" and "missile homer" in the same sentence really bothers me, though... but that's why he's in the minors, too.

    That's great! But like, half of those are wrong. It would be amazing if every team had a page like this that was actually accurate. Yoervis Medina having "Funky Cold Medina" as his music is kinda perfect, considering every time I see his name I immediately think of that song. Not sure if he actually has that music though.

    I think that's the conversation you and I had, because that sounds very familiar. EDIT: Just looked it up and yes, we had a very brief interaction about it where you explained studies showed that increase in innings has lead to more injuries vs. pitch counts. I posed the same question I did above, basically, you responded with the answer. I said I didn't know that and thanked you for the info. Very brief.

    But really, it appears that it's all Harvey and Boras. Have the Mets themselves done anything especially dumb in this situation that I'm not aware of? Well apparently someone on the Mets said "Oh, he's definitely pitching in the playoffs" or something, and then today said they're sticking to a strict innings cap. I know I've had the discussion on here in the past before (I think with Tim) but I still never understand an innings cap. Wouldn't you want to limit pitch counts instead of innings? Also, Olney put out a piece right on the front page of ESPN yesterday that said the Mets should trade Matt Harvey. This overreaction to a miscommunication on an innings limit is absurd.

    I've never bought into MLb's statcast distance tracker one bit. None of it makes any sense. Sammy hit many home runs of similar trajectories and they never sniffed 500 feet. They're very liberal with their distance measuring.

    I'm not seeing what's so controversial about it. Do Mets fans want him to say "Fuckl my innings limit I'll pitch whenever I want" or something? Or do they want him to be shut down and preserve his arm? He seems to be indifferent as to what happens, and the Mets/Boras are going at it with one another, but it seems like Harvey is getting all the heat for not giving a definitive answer that, unless I'm missing something, he doesn't have the authority to give.
