  1. I know the Cubs have a fetish for lefty outfielders... but don't we already have a lefty-hitting right fielder? As well as a lefty-hitting RF backup? Giles would be nice though
  2. I think the reason for his success this year is the glove wiggle, but not because of the timing or pitch tipping. It's probably because he has a piece of sand paper glued to the palm of it. Seriously. Disclaimer: Not serious
  3. They lost a guy who was essentially a 110 OPS+ hitter with a backup who has something like a 60 OPS+, so they went out and got a guy with an OPS+ over 100. I think it's a lot more than a name acquisition. They needed a catcher. Yeah, I know. Still find it ironic that it happens to be one of the biggest names in catching of the last 20 years i dont understand how its ironic. he should be exactly who you expect the yankees to get Ironic in that the Yankees have had nothing but big name superstars come to their team throughout this decade through trade or free-agency and the big trade they make happens top be for one of the biggest names in the.... you know what i quit, I'm just making an observation, not critical analysis just use the word ironic correctly in the future, that's all. I did, just in a different context that only I seem to think of. no biggie
  4. Awesome http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1081060,CST-SPT-cubnt30.article Haha, that's incredible. He kind of/sort of did that in the 2001 World Series too. In that Yankees documentary on HBO about 911 and baseball or whatever, they were in a tight spot and someone said "Why don't you just tell Soriano to hit a home run" or something. They did. He did

  6. Well just to play devil's advocate here, I would rather have the 16-8 guy then the 10-15 guy. The 10-15 guy is clearly the better pitcher though, but I mean winning is everything. And in the long run, the 10-15 guy would be better, but for one year I'd rather have the 16-8 guy regardless what his ERA is. The 16-8 guys is a product of good run support, and vice verse for the 10-15 guy. If I'm in the playoffs, regardless of how much run support a pitcher gets in the regular season, I want the good pitcher going in October. If the Cubs made the playoffs and at the end of the year these numbers were there hypothetically... Carlos Zambrano 12-16 3.05ERA 1.22WHIP vs. Ted Lilly 16-10 3.86ERA 1.38WHIP Who do you take if you had to leave one of them off the roster?

  8. If it were true, it really really really would explain A LOT of things as to why he's been so fond of him
  9. Wow. Add one more name to the Yankees list of old school all-stars. Come to Yankee Stadium and see some of the greatest players from the 90's! And yes, I know, some of them are still good today, but geez. It seems like it was more of a name acquisition to me.
  10. Sabathia's not playing so he's using his sonar to search for donuts Well played, sir
  11. I'm sure it's been addressed, but what the hell is that weird drone sound on the broadcast?
  12. http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6492/snapshot200604041555203oa.jpg no bro, we can't both have polio You read my mind (or my signature image)
  13. I have him in a league, he's my 2nd best offensive player behind Hanley. Currently ranked 20th on all of Yahoo. I'm trying to sell high on him, not that I think his production will drop off, I just don't think it will be as good as the first half. I'm trying to get a good pitcher for him. What pitcher would conceivably be an equal value player at this point? Someone offered me Zambrano for him, and it was tempting but I turned it down because of several reasons... 1) Zambrano is ranked 96th, Ludwick 20th. I don't feel like I'm selling high enough in a league filled with some stupid people (Jake Peavy was just traded for Mike Lowell and Brian Wilson) 2) I need a pitcher who is a complete package, and Zambrano's K rate is down drastically this year. If anything, I need a K/ERA/WHIP pitcher. 3) I'm hoping someone else in the league will bite and give me someone of better value Do you think it'd possible that I could get a Rich Harden or a Jake Peavy type player if I sell Ludwick properly? Basically, what would you realistically give up for Ludwick if he were offered to you?
  14. Thanks guys. 'Preciate it
  15. I think he's been stricken with polio. The world ran out of the vaccine, so he's screwed. FDR style
  16. I'm willing to bet good money that the threat slashing motion has been done hundreds of times in the NFL. I can't prove it, but come on... a sport where some players main goals in the game is to inflict as much pain on someone as possible, and they taunt and talk smack all game, you're telling me a throat slash gesture has NEVER happened and if it did they'd get fined for it? Please. The day that happens is the day the police start arresting linebackers for assault and battery whenever they record a sack
  17. Beckett has the stuff to be elite, as was evident last year, but he's still sketchy, as is evident by his first year in boston as well as this year. Hanley has been nothing short of amazing ever since he left. I don't think they're kicking themselves on that one, per se, but I think they'd love to take it back seeing where the two are at right now
  18. He eventually will probably become a 40/40 guy. He's a stud and there is no chance anyone has the sources to trade for him. Right now, he's on pace for 37/37, so it's not much of a reach to think he could get 40/40 this year. Him and Grady Sizemore are both 40-40 candidates this year. I find that exciting
  19. Looks like I pulled away by a few home runs. Good to see. Time to kick it up a notch... 1st post ASB transaction: Drop Hunter Pence Add Brian McCann
  20. This won't be of any help unless someone knows what I'm talking about because I don't live in Chicago. I have a family friend who lives roughly 10 minutes from Wrigley. About 5 minutes from his house, still in that 10 minute Wrigley vicinity, is this quaint little Argentinian restaurant across the street from this crusty looking bowling alley. That restaurant was some of the best food I've had. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, that'd be awesome, I'd like to know the name of the place as I might visit a friend who just moved up there soon and would like to go back.
  21. They got Carlos Santana? Awesome, that dude will bring in lots of fans for after game concerts. That's right folks, it took 15 posts before a Santana (bad) joke reference. I'm disappointed in that
  22. For those who are in keeper leagues... where do you play/create keeper leagues? The only fantasy baseball sites I know of are CBS, ESPN, and Yahoo. Are there others? I've wanted to start a keeper league with my friends but always forget to, was wondering where the best option is for keeper leagues
  23. From Jason Stark... Would be good for the Yanks. Would also make me hate them even more
