  1. More noise about them possibly not posting him here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10084018/masahiro-tanaka-not-made-available-mlb-teams-rakuten-golden-eagles Out of curiosity, if they don't post him what's stopping Tanaka from officially "retiring" from NPB and then entering MLB as a free agent?
  2. Very encouraging!
  3. I know who he is because THE GOD DAMN CUBS TRADED ME TO THE A'S MY ROOKIE SEASON IN THE SHOW AND I HAD TO FACE HIM A LOT. He only really threw a high velocity fastball, so I tee'd off every time. FWIW.
  4. You just described every person who posts rumors, though.
  5. He was talking about Bubba Starling not Starlin. That makes sense... but I've never seen someone post an ABTY rumor here outside of Cubs related stuff so I figured it was a typo. It's an update to the rumor from the last page about a Cubs/Angels/Royals 3 way involving shark. Derp... I didn't realize the page switched over.

  7. Unless that's a deliberate dick move and he's talking about someone like Bubba Starling or something.
  8. But seriously the only name on the MLB roster that really intrigues me on the Angels end is Kole Calhoun. I mean obviously Trout, but realistically... Calhoun. Their SP isn't deep so I don't see them moving C.J. Wilson (though I would like that). Their farm system is kinda weak, is it not? The Angels aren't a very good match for Castro unless the Cubs are getting something ridiculously good back.
  9. WE'RE FINALLY GOING TO GET JOSH HAMILTON BACK
  10. I would listen to WGN calls every game is Julius Pepperwood were the color man.
  11. Damnit. It'd be really funny if we were ready to drop a $75m posting and this costs us the player. Epstein's going to start believing in curses soon. That's exactly what I was thinking. Fun times ahead...
  12. The Marlins squashed that rumor pretty early in the offseason by saying they had zero intentions of trading him. I know it's to be taken with a grain of salt with the Marlins, but that was their stance on it early on, that's why there's been no Stanton stuff.
  13. Kottaras, Scott Baker, some reliever for 1/$4m who is using us to get some "proven closer" pixie dust, some random 1/$5m veteran outfielder with lots of grit and leadership, and a 1/$3m infielder to caddy in case we decide we don't want to go Valbuena/Castro/Barney/Rizzo and Olt still sucks. This will be our offseason. So John Axford.
  14. Can't wait for the barrage of articles about Ellsbury playing for the Yankees. Blah blah rivalry. blah blah evil empire. Blah blah traitor. Blah blah blah blah blah.
  15. Haha, that's awesome for some reason. Player-coach, plz. I know this is a joke, but no.
  16. Sounds like the Mariners are making a big push, if the rumors are true...
  17. So Towers just gave away Holmberg for a 22 year old reliever with uninspiring numbers in Low-A, and a PTBNL. Have we stopped to consider that Towers might be schizophrenic? Do other GMs call him by some type of Manchurian code name to make the crazy version come out? EDIT: Forgot Heath Bell was in Arizona. So apparently he values Holmberg at about 5 million, since that's what they owe Bell. Less crazy, but still pretty crazy. If all they wanted to do was get rid of Bell's contract, they should've just traded him for a nobody prospect. I don't see why they needed to give up Holmberg, and surely someone would've taken a chance on Bell at the risk of giving up next to nothing.
  18. I am told the Cubs were in on him right to the end. Oakland gave up more than what the Cubs thought he was worth. Yeah, Michael Choice is a fairly nice get for Gentry.
  19. You're right. Anderson still available... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/athletics-acquire-craig-gentry.html
  20. Aww man, I wanted both of them :(
  21. FWIw, though I thought they were done trying to figure out a new posting system?
  22. Latest from Cafardo, nothing we don't already know
