  1. I like what this Oliver guy is saying
  2. I disagree. If you time it he took about 6 seconds to get to first base as he admired his "home run", but he took about 6.5 seconds to get from first to third. Carlos Gomez is fast, he could've easily made that an inside the parker if he was running hard out of the batters box. Might've been close, but it's not 0% Considering that 4 seconds to first is flying, you're giving him 2 seconds to get from 3rd to home when he took 3.25 to get between bases from 1st to 3rd. You have bad maths. You can take out your phone, open a stopwatch app, and time it yourself if you want. Just making an observation. He's one of the fastest players in the majors. Could he have been out at the plate? Sure. Would he have been dead to rights? I don't think that'd be a guarantee.

  4. He has a tendency to admire his home runs, and I get why Cole was a little peeved, but Cole could've just ignored it and been happy with the fact Gomez looked stupid admiring a ball in play. Had Gomez been hustling out of the gate it would've been an inside-the-parker instead of a triple. Gomez wouldn't have gone crazy if Cole didn't nag him into it Reference for those wondering: http://m.mlb.com/video/v32232541/milpit-benches-clear-after-gomez-triples-in-the-3rd/?query=carlos+gomez
  5. That was definitely my guess, too. Mark Teixeira. Votto only had 24 games played his age 23 season
  6. I don't see how anyone can be super down on Rizzo. This is a fun little meaningless comparison. Age 23 seasons. Anthony Rizzo: 160 G .233/.323/.419/.742 (101 OPS+) 23 HR 80 RBI 40 2B 2 3B 76 BB 127 K 1.6 fWAR/2.8 rWAR Player B: 146 G .259/.331/.480/.811 (102 OPS+) 26 HR 84 RBI 29 2B 5 3B 44 BB 120 K 1.9 fWAR/2.7 rWAR
  7. The first one. Had Christmas dinner with him and his wife (now ex-wife) several years back when he was still in the minors. I told him if he gets called up not to let Dusty destroy his arm. He said "I'm already afraid of that" or something to that effect.
  8. Cubs currently facing my cousin's brother-in-law
  9. I thought that was gonna be the Rickey Henderson video
  10. I believe in Brett Jackson (to not be left off our Top 50 prospect list)
  11. For a split second I thought that said "Marty Pevey injured SS Javier Baez with groundballs"
  12. I worked for the Bay Bears with Sean Rosales! Small world.
  13. I'm skeptical. I respect that. Im just positing that the moves that Rick made in that cardinals game last Friday where made on purpose and with the goal of improving the cubs chances to win the game. And because of that, and in my opinion there really isn’t any ambiguity left, he cannot be anything but a bad manager. He actually was quoted after Friday's game saying that one of the bunts (cant remember which one) was made to lower our chance of winning. I think it was some long con he was pulling. he's trying to light a fire under our boys by giving them a common enemy (himself) http://i.imgur.com/8UehTFW.jpg
  14. It's a generally unpopular opinion, but I can't stand Vin Scully and his completely emotionless delivery. A [expletive] scud missile could take out the center field bleachers in the middle of the game and he'd describe it with the same tone as "Juan Uribe draws a pinch hit walk". I know he's a legend and he commands respect, but I don't really give a [expletive] about him one bit.
  15. he swings at 35% of pitches out of the zone (average is about 30-31%), and swings at 71% of strikes (average is around 66%) so the bolded doesn't seem to be a major problem Fair enough then. I just kind of interpreted it as he'll swing at anything.
  16. The way I see it it's bad because he chooses to swing at pitches he can't hit instead of laying off them and working the count. That and it probably means he has poor pitch recognition skills and a bad understanding of the strike zone.
  17. Next up: anal fissures and testicular torsion
  18. Well, there's a good reason he was DH
  19. Drop Eric Hosmer Add Brandon Belt
  20. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lq2un2Lp5O1qa6cmgo1_500.gif
  21. Kris Bryant get off of my lawn! [/awfulfakehomeruncalls]
  22. [expletive] ridiculous http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v32030193/miaphi-stanton-uncorks-one-470-feet-into-stands
  23. We didn't have a bunting competition... Well then Renteria is probably making up for lost time
