  1. Somebody warn the Chartres Cubs (yes, that's a baseball team in France) that Loria is coming.
  2. [tweet] [/tweet]
  3. I look forward to the pics :D
  4. Frankly, I'm surprised by the default unwilllingness to discuss seriously any POV coming from a conservative, but that's probably because I'm a foreigner. Again, this isn't about conservative vs. liberal. I have never identified, generally, as a liberal. There are others (though in the minority) here like me. Trump is a dangerous monster who is empowering hateful and bigoted people. If that isn't bad enough, he has no idea what he's doing, either. Combining the two quotes to try to clarify the point I'm trying to make: the "traditional conservative" voters have known they were going to get screwed since the end of the primaries; they've had no real hope for over half a year now, and even if they are shocked by the events so far during this transition, they voice their opposition differently (e.g. Evan McMullin has been making some interesting points from that perspective). Other voters couldn't imagine, even in their worst nightmares, any of this becoming reality prior to the morning op 11/09 - the very real feelings of shock and disgust since then are quite understandable, but shouldn't negate the possibilities of others opposing Trump in a different tone. I would assume outright fans of Trump are quite rare on this board (I certainly haven't read any). Anyway, this thread was about the Cubs visit to the White House in the last week of the Obama presidency - I assume the Chicago angle makes both sides quite happy about that.

  6. Go back to jehr's original post from before this got out of hand (as political discussions usually do nowadays); his original statement didn't use the word "equally" - that inference was added later by people who disagreed with him. I read his original post as him simply being unhappy with both (main) candidates, which sounds fair.
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] Not a fan of this.
  8. The Italian and Dutch leagues are the only ones that matter in Europe.
  9. Ethan Horvath to Club Bruges (see my avatar :D ) [tweet] [/tweet]
  10. after only 85 days.
  11. Actually, it's neither shocking nor alarming, and even to be expected. This is written (deep down) in StubHub's terms of use (which nobody reads, I know): We may share your personal information with: ... Third party service providers, payment processors and financial institutions under contract who help with our business operations (such as, but not limited to, fraud detection and investigations, identity verification services, payment processing, bill collection, affiliate and rewards programs, website operations, fulfilment and delivery services or ticket cancellation and reissue services). It's very much a situation where MLB and StubHub have a mutual interest in cooperating - there's a reason StubHub has a seperate section devoted to it on the Cubs.com ticket page.
  12. Anybody's money and butts in seats, actually. Look, the Cubs determined through data analysis that you were a scalper (rightly or wrongly) and recinded your season tickets because they could. Coming here with the message that the Cubs actually do that nowadays is ok, even appreciated. But there's no point in trying to scare other STH in to thinking they're next; that depends on their selling history. In that respect, I think most other STH here on NSB are quite safe.
  13. As in a lot of cases, it's about perception. The Cubs have no way of knowing what your intent was when you became a STH. All they can do is look at your purchasing/selling history. They saw that you went to five regular season games and two NLCS games, and that you sold all the other tickets. They probably also looked at your history in previous years. Given that your account is linked to a local adress, their perception is that you use your season tickets as a business opportunity. Having a local adress probably worked against you here.
  14. He had the fun and the winnng with the Cubs, and deserves our thanks for that. Now he's going to get duly paid by the Cardinals; that's OK with me.
  15. None - they were delivered to our seats behind home plate (the daughter of one of the guys with me worked for the Mets at the time and got us those seats)
  16. http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-shake-shack-wrigleyville-1129-biz-20161128-story.html I've had one of their burgers at Citi Field.
  17. My WS champs hat arrived yesterday :D
  18. It's a place of pilgimage in France; the Blue Jays may be on to something.
  19. Their fans won't let that happen - they're the best.
  20. I don't recall seeing Bad Jake this season; it was mostly Just-good Jake, iirc. But I understand the frustration when you were expecting God-mode Jake.
  21. The greatest post of all time is the last one in the WS game 7 thread.
  22. Happy National Nachos Day ;-) http://www.nationalnachosday.com/uploads/1/0/8/5/10858300/nationalnachosdaylogo-01-neutral.jpg?318
  23. I've ordered a cap and a couple of Tshirts - they'll get here when they get here
  24. Well someone here is buying all her records (if the NSB Twitter account is to be believed) 8-)
