  1. :flythew: It's 11 pm here, so I'll have another drink to celebrate. :D
  2. 7/21 is Belgian National Day (and thus a public holiday) so I love this decision. 8-)
  3. But Belgian nachos probably have raw herring and mayonnaise on them Raw herring is called "maatjes" and is a Dutch delicacy. Mayonnaise is ok to put on "frieten", providing it is home-made. If they get the game in today, I may post a picture of my purchase.
  4. As I'll be able to watch this game, I feel obliged to purchase some nachos on the way home.
  5. You're starting a diplomatic incident with this.
  6. That was a very nice Thursday evening (for me) of baseball. Very nice performance by the Cubs. Let's do that again tomorrow. :D :flythew:
  7. I'll be watching in Belgium having dinner - perfect Thursday evening. :D
  8. That was a nice first inning 8-)
  9. LaStella with the first RBI of the spring.
  10. Cubs playing live baseball on my TV on a friday evening. I love it :D
  11. "I thought Kobe retired" was the first thing that went through my head when I saw the topic.
  12. I was listening to the (Belgian) radio on the way home from work, and apparently the Cubs have hired Steve Janssen as a minor league pitching coach (presumably for Mesa). Don't worry if the name doesn't ring a bell - Steve is a Belgian national who's been coaching for the Dutch national team for the last 18 years (he was a catcher during his playing days for two different teams in Antwerp, as well as for the national team) I found it interesting that he specifically mentioned the high injury rate of pitchers in the US as one of the reasons for the Cubs' organization to take a different approach, explaining the job offer he received (which is, granted, an very unexpected move)
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] Cubs twitter having some fun with the comments.
  14. FA cup holders Arsenal crash out in the third round, losing 4-2 to Nottingham Forest. Eric Lichaj scored twice for Forest.
  15.   [tweet] [/tweet]
  16. No complaints about group G from me.
  17. Deadspin only got it half right - what really happened is even more ridiculous. There seems to have been a meeting by various Euro-hooligans (80 Dutch from The Hague, 30 French from Lille, and a handful from England and Slovenia) who wanted to help the Bruges hooligans (all of whom have a stadium ban) trash the Antwerp contingent (who have a hardcore hooligan rep themselves). Because of a misunderstanding they attacked the wrong pub and ended up fighting eachother.
