  1. At this point, I feel like a trade has to be made just to shake something up in that clubhouse
  2. I'd love to have Laureano or Bader to give Happ and PCA cover against tough lefties. Not that they have to sit against every one of them, but give them a day off here and there.
  3. not that I think he's saying sources are telling him this, but Cerami has some good sources and I wonder if he's basing this guess after what he's heard about their aggressiveness. This would require a good amount of prospects being moved, I thinkq
  4. The cost is always the thing, right? So if it's like Carter Trice or Connor Norland (pulling names out of the back end of a potential top 30) you probably do it. If they want someone like Christian Hernandez or Birdsell I probably wouldn't because ideally Hauser doesn't even make your NLDS roster (thinking Shota, Boyd, starter traded for and Taillon get starts and we have a pen with better stuff than Hauser)
  5. If we're looking at a B minimum, I'd say Merrill Kelly. For it to reach an A, I'd want a starter we can hand the ball to in game 2 in October and who we'd have for at least 2026
  6. At The Athletic, Bowden proposed Cam Collier AND Chase Petty and another pitcher for Suarez... how does this guy keep getting a platform?
  7. Interesting the Yankees got McMahon. Assume this takes them out on Suarez?
  8. Diamondbacks starting their sell-off
  9. Bradley and Fairbanks would be interesting. Adding Fairbanks would be great for the pen, and Bradley has good stuff. Not sure Yandy would be worth it, because I really don't think he can play 3rd... but I'm just a guy on a message board and not in the Cubs FO.
  10. all of it is designed for short clips that can be shared on social media. They do not care about the viewing experience, they care about "moments" that can be shared. It's the "Chris Paul hits a 3 to cut the lead down to 42" thing. The generation they're trying to hook as fans aren't tied to particular teams as much as players and they care as much or more about highlights and "moments" as actual results of games
  11. that seems nuts... we've already seen Mo tear up the lower minors, and he's only 8 months older than Conrad, Rojas is almost 2 years younger, plays a more premium position, and is on fire at South Bend, and Wiggins has a k/9 over 11 in (limited action) AA. I can see maybe the shine wearing off Alcantara, and not being impressed with Long... but having him any higher than 5 seems like SNTS to the max, especially with the injury concerns (and yes, I know Raisin is just the messenger and does not hold this opinion)
  12. check out Jackson Merrill's line so far this year, or Corbin Carroll's first half last year... hitting in MLB is hard, even for guys who have had great success https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/merrija01.shtml
  13. I think this is an underrated consideration. Not signing Tucker (while bad) is something the Cubs are almost uniquely prepared for. They can put Seiya back in RF (which despite Tucker's previous Gold Glove, he has been roughly equal to Seiya's D last year according to BRef) and then find which of the young bats fits at DH and/or mix and match in RF with Seiya
  14. Triantos alone might be an overpay for Alcantara
  15. I mean, that's a lazy fly ball that just happened to land in those stupid Crawford boxes. Let's hope we can get a guy or two on and loft one up there
