  1. Lol, no. The owners have unprecedented profits and yet systematically have introduced rules throughout the game that reduce pay for both big leaguers and amateurs, ask for tax payer-funded stadiums and pay minor leaguers peanuts, but it's the players who have finally reached too far? Fair enough.
  2. Will this off season be looked back on as a bit of a "bubble burst" when it comes to salaries? I guess it depends on who signs for what, but the rate at which salaries have been growing over the past decade seems to have hit a wall. In past years, there is no way guys like Darvish, JD Martinez, etc. would still be unsigned. Have the players finally reached too far?
  3. The fact that the NCAA is letting MSU Head their own investigation instead of saying “horsefeathers you, we got this” from day one tells you all you need to know about the awfulness of Emeritt
  4. With TheoCo being the squirrels Or like Veronica Beauregarde One big blue ball Violet Beauregarde
  5. He should be fired for a variety of reasons
  6. What, what? Who is defending anything? I'm talking about the public/media/NCAA reaction to the MSU situation Given the severity of what transpired at Happy Valley and how minimal the punishment, it takes either blind bias or huge balls to use their punishment as some sort of barometer for being tough (even used in just comparison to MSU rather than taken at face value). We're talking about the NCAA here, though, which uses some combination of a dart board and Magic 8 Ball to choose its punishments. NCAA set the bar, not me
  7. And now there's this http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/22214566/pattern-denial-inaction-information-suppression-michigan-state-goes-larry-nassar-case-espn
  8. The NCAA (specifically Mark Emmert) was told in 2010, and the response was a gigantic *SHRUG* https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/1/26/16939098/mark-emmert-larry-nassar-ncaa-michigan-state-case
  9. 8 likes on his first post? Dude should retire. Go out on top
  10. I think the dissonance will be David Ortiz going in first-ballot despite having actually failed a drug test
  11. Yes, thought at this point, I don't even see Michigan State getting anything close to what punishment Penn State DID receive Considering it was a 2 year punishment and a 60 mil fine for covering up horsefeathering children, defending the severity of Penn State is not the correct answer. The only lasting effect is the removal of the main enabler of child rape's statue. What, what? Who is defending anything? I'm talking about the public/media/NCAA reaction to the MSU situation

  13. There are days when I wish they would do a lottery (non-playoff teams), but reverse the order, rewarding the highest picks to the teams that "tried, but barely missed" rather than the teams that sucked butt. Of course there are huge problems with that method as well, so there isn't a great solution
  14. This trade is a cautionary tale: When you demand a trade, you just might end up on the Brewers
  15. Guerrero will be first player in the Hall with an Angels cap Marlins, Rockies and Tampa the only teams left with no players (unless you count the Nationals)
  16. 2017 fWAR leaderboard doesn't hit 0.0 WAR until 792, and -0.1 until 932 oh i guess i wasn't thinking of unqualified players Sure, right, I don't know what the cut off is for that. I just went with Fangraphs WAR leaderboard http://www.fangraphs.com/warleaders.aspx?season=2017&team=all
  17. there is no way that will hold true. You do 300 players and you're running into negative WAR guys 2017 fWAR leaderboard doesn't hit 0.0 WAR until 792, and -0.1 until 932
  18. Something something emptied farm system
  19. With any luck, 50% of the BWAA die in the next 3 years and are replaced by non-morons
  20. "Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome and Trevor Hoffman were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, it was announced Wednesday." Damn solid class
  21. Did Tim delete the “Everyone at NSB thinks we will win the next 3 World Series” Thread?
  22. The three-person booth concept is a mess, though. I don't know why they insist on it. Two-person is cleaner
  23. And why on earth would Ellsbury waive his NTC to go to bum-horsefeathers Milwaukee?
