  7. I'm watching MLB Network and none of the top reporters even mentioned it. They were talking Kimbrel to Red Sox or Dodgers like 30 seconds ago
  8. Was your friend TomtheBombadill?
  9. You know it is very possible that what Rizzo considered a discount is actually his market value. Let’s see what kind of contract he signs this offseason. I think players are going to have to grapple with the new "not getting paid for past production" reality. The moral here is don't give a discount when signing a contract in your 20s. Cubs could have done right by him and given him a raise via a rework/extension a few years ago, but you can't trust any ownership to do the right thing. Giving him a payday now would just be stupid. Rizzo, Bryant and Baez all missed on this new trend of buying out arb years for big early-career paydays

  19. His cap hit is ~1.8m less than Seabrooks but his is actually real while Seabrooks doesn’t count. They made their cap situation worse. How long is Johnson's contract? 3 years ($5M AAV)
  20. Saving him for another pinch-hit walk-off against Garrett
  21. Chicago Cubs Lineup: 1. Rafael Ortega, CF 2. Kris Bryant, 3B 3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B 4. Javy Baez, SS 5. Willson Contreras, C 6. Jason Heyward, RF 7. David Bote, 2B 8. Ian Happ, LF 9. Adbert Alzolay, P Nico Hoerner and Patrick Wisdom are both getting the night off, with David Bote (2B) and Kris Bryant (3B)/Ian Happ (LF) filling in. Rafael Ortega, meanwhile, continues to draw his starts in center field as the Cubs everyday leadoff hitter.
