  1. He's an absolute hole in the lineup offensively His career high in wRC+ is 90 (2017)
  2. Gomes and Barnhart have been worth 4.5 fWAR combined over the past 3 seasons
  3. These last five minutes....
  4. wow wow wow
  5. Just saying that Heyward was coming off of three straight high fWAR years before signing with the Cubs, when he then immediately turned into a pumpkin. Correa has already had some back problems, so he's a gamble. None of us know how any of this will turn out, though, so we're all just arguing to argue. wait, you were comparing correa to heyward? that's even weirder I'm comparing two players signing huge contracts, that's all
  6. And could end up being the next Heyward, but we'll see. this is such a lazy comp Just saying that Heyward was coming off of three straight high fWAR years before signing with the Cubs, when he then immediately turned into a pumpkin. Correa has already had some back problems, so he's a gamble. None of us know how any of this will turn out, though, so we're all just arguing to argue.
  7. Huh? Swanson: 7/177 = $25M AAV Correa: 13/350 - $27M AAV Basically the same per year, but half the commitment. Why is that horrible? Correa is a lot better than Swanson. And could end up being the next Heyward, but we'll see.
  8. Huh? Swanson: 7/177 = $25M AAV Correa: 13/350 - $27M AAV Basically the same per year, but half the commitment. Why is that horrible? He likely sees Correa in a higher tier of player And he's probably right, but I'd bet on 7 good-to-decent years of Swanson over 13 good-to-decent years of Correa.
  9. Nope, this makes the Correa contract look like an absolute steal. People need to stop being trained to care about years on a contract. You'll never sign anyone good anymore if you care. Huh? Swanson: 7/177 = $25M AAV Correa: 13/350 - $27M AAV Basically the same per year, but half the commitment. Why is that horrible?
  10. [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. His broadcast is already 80% ad reads. Maybe just sell the rest of the broadcast so that he never actually talks about the game?
  12. Cubs don't even know who Rodon is
  13. Thor is going to win the Cy Young for the Dodgers
  14. Yes, but did something new happen on this front? he went from being okay last year to bad this year. it was bad regardless, but now we don't even get a decent player out of it If it makes you feel better, Adam Boqvist has played like 11 total minutes for the Blue Jackets
  15. I only watched if they were on national TV (or played the Pirates/Reds)
  16. How many years away is PCA from the majors? Is his potential upside as our CF for the next 6 years worth packaging him for a Devers type of player?
  17. Nico Hoerner exists How many times do I need to tell you....I DON'T READ POSTS
  18. Play Morel at 2B every day to start the season. If Madrigal shows up with a reworked body and performs in the minor leagues, then you can perhaps readjust depending on how Morel is doing. Nico Hoerner exists
  19. because the stated goal of every professional sports franchise is to win games, but for this particular professional sports franchise, that's not exactly a priority The stated goal and actual goal are quite different. I don't believe the Pirates, Orioles, A's, etc. have any goal of actually winning
  20. People bitched and moaned about Heyward's contract for the past 6 years, so I guess....those people? And another long-term dud contract just gives Hoyer/Ricketts another excuse never to spend money again Yes, it's a made up problem by the owners. Yep, so why should we be surprised when they don't sign anyone?
  21. They could easily take that kind of hit if they needed to; other big market teams do it. People bitched and moaned about Heyward's contract for the past 6 years, so I guess....those people? And another long-term dud contract just gives Hoyer/Ricketts another excuse never to spend money again
  22. If Jed is truly spooked by 10+ year deals, it makes the Willson contract that much more damning.
  23. On the one hand, sign someone already On the other hand, 13 years is stupid, and this might become the next Heyward contract
