  1. I think Jim Leyland is getting all the credit in Detroit for inheriting a team that Trammell helped establish
  2. Do we have to hear that song every 7th inning stretch? Why can't we just honor America before the game with the National Anthem and baseball during the game with Take Me Out to the Ballgame? I think there are much better sounding patriotic songs (such as America the Beautiful) anyway, if we're going for the patriotism during. Why do you hate America?
  3. I don't follow the SEC enough to know if they are the best or not. What I do know is Penn State, and I happened to look at their schedule next year. They drop Minnesota and Northwestern to pick up Iowa and Indiana. With Notre Dame in Week 2, the Lions will have to play the Irish, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa next year. That's got to be about as hard as any other 5 games by any other school in the country.
  4. I just stopped by to say: :puker: That is all
  5. I think Reyes lasts maybe 2 1/3 innings.
  6. Penn State is the worst 5-3 team in football. Illinois tried an onsides kick after a safety....I thought you HAD to kick it away?
  7. The reason TB has continued to suck is because their front office is clueless about how to negotiate trades. They ask for the world and more for anyone you want from their roster. Unfortunately, the Mets were stupid enough to send them Kazmir for Zambrano, which only makes them think they can do that sort of thing every time.
  8. I guess my Sosa Bobblehead didn't make a prize pack? Maybe I'll offer it for next season...
  9. How can people keep pushing Borat when it doesn't even come out until November 2?
  10. 2004 called and begs to disagree
  11. Difference is...the Cards signed Carpenter on the cheap, with the hope that once he got healthy he would reward them for their patience; which he has. Meche, IMO, will not be cheap to sign. Quite frankly, he won't be worth the bills he might get. Our version of "could be great for cheap" is Miller. If he re-signs again, which I don't know why he wouldn't. The Cubs paid him for a year to rehab, the least he could do is sign for another year with us.
  12. This wouldn't be A-Rod's team either. I think it's Lee's team right now, formerly Prior's team.
  13. I wouldn't categorize Carlos Lee to the Cubs as "very likely" as most reports have him signing with the Astros
  14. Morelli was cleared to play tomorrow. Sorry bout your luck Illini EDIT: *%#(%#(& We get *&%# Pam #**# Ward and Mike (%# Gottfried again. Seriously, they are like the Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver of college football. Why am I made to suffer so? At the risk of sounding sexist, she really needs to stick to women's basketball. She's HORRIBLE at calling football games. And Gottfried talks so slowly that 3 more plays have gone by by the time he finishes his "analysis" of the first one
  15. you're entitled to that opinion, but is has no basis in stats
  16. Pavano was a horrible signing because he was always hurt. We never saw what he could really do in NY
  17. so the teams were even and one edged out the other. where was the fluke?
  18. How could I forget Office Space and PCU?
  19. I don't think Patterson ever showed the kind of progression Pie has shown in the minors (from what I can remember). Another key is to make sure the Cubs don't try to turn him into something he's not, like they did with Patterson. I agree that there should be some caution used to avoid "rushing" him, but I think there are some differences between he and Corey. The fact that Dusty, Clines or Sarge will never get their mitts on Pie is reason for optimism
  20. I just sent it to FJM. We'll see if it's even worth their mockery
  21. It's been said, but the NL Central has yet to win a game in the WS the past two years. If all goes well, they will have lost 12 straight by the end of next week
  22. From what I've read, Pie's numbers in the 2nd half were very good....for a 21 year old. Okay, they were good for anyone, but I don't want to see Corey Patterson Pt. 2 next year
  23. we have a winner Not only am I going to make that sign, but I'm going to put "Rocket Sauce" on it somewhere. Great idea, but WAY too many words. The sign would have to be 15' x 10' in order to be seen by anyone
  24. I agree with this. Baseball players arent use to sitting for a week. Its not Detorit needed to rest the pen or starters. BP aint the same thing as live pitching. Rogers has pitched 2 outstanding games in the playoffs. He's a good pitcher but pitching 3 in a row is a tough task. I havent looked but im going to guess the Tigers have been really good with RISP. I dont have facts supporting this, its just what i seem to see. Mets have a great lineup, if Detoit doesnt pitch well they will get ransacked. Detroit starters have been pitching out of their minds, expect a regression. Detroit has an advantage with rogers and roberston being lefties against the mets lefty lineup. Carpenter can win 2 games for the Cardinals alone. After posting this originally I read an article that said historically, teams with as much as the Tigers got win the World Series at a very high %
  25. Old School wasn't 5% as funny as everyone makes it out to be. The funniest movie I've seen recently was The 40 Year Old Virgin. Some of my favorite all time are Airplane!, Blazing Saddles, Animal House, National Lampoon's Vacation, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, and Life of Brian
