  1. i have to go move furniture out of my family room. I'd hope the Cubs have at LEAST one more base runner by the time I get back
  2. I don't know how high any team's winning percentages are when they go down 3 runs in the top of the 1st and they have Jason Marquis on the mound. :? sure, for this game, but people are writing off Marquis for the length of the contract because of one bad inning I think people are writing off Marquis because of one bad career. Wow, joined up yesterday and already picking iFights in every thread you've posted in. Great job. You're a welcome addition here. jersey cubs fan = Goony's Evil Twin. You missed the memo

  4. wouldn't you? Soriano has almost been picked off about a dozen times already

  6. OMG THE SKY IS FALLING !!!11111!!!1 /listen to yourselves
  7. It's going to happen. Lou is discussing it right now. What's his reasoning? "I am trying my hardest to piss off people at NSBB. Nothing amuses me more than their huge overreactions to my lineups on a daily basis"
  8. floyd is hitting the ball very hard right now. I have no issue with him starting right now
  9. he doesn't land in a beer mug anymore. Also, Miller Field is an atrocity. I hate that park. As for Wrigley.....perhaps Mr. Zell (or whomever he sells the stadium to) should make a nice financial contribution to Daley's next campaign fund to get a little leverage
  10. there was some free place to park across the river.....can't remember what it's called, but it had a bunch of bars and stuff
  11. He certainly could have said "I'm not interested", but he didn't. Reading between the lines it looks like whether or not Wrigley is included in the purchase would be an important detail for him, as it should be. i just know that he won't be approved by the league. and it sucks that reinsdorf is going to have that much pull with the league to keep cuban out. politically, reinsdorf would sabotage him. the whole thing smacks of collusion, because it's a conflict of interest for jerry to have a vote at all, anyway. sadly, he wouldn't need a vote, just a phone and a few friends around the league. no way reinsdorf pulls that off. He tried when Cuban bought the Mavs and ended up being the only person who voted against it. I can't see him swaying over half the league to his side. No chance at all
  12. i am drowning in hyperbole the cubs aren't "skipping miller at every opportunity". This is one skipped start. ONE. It happens, and nothing should be read into it. and this thread has turned into pages and pages of inane argument. the choices right now are an injury plagued pitcher who is not playing to his potential vs. an injury plagued pitcher who is not playing to his potential
  13. didn't aTm just hire someone? I missed the name on ESPNews
  14. I don't know about baseball being a public transportation sport, I think that statement is nonsense. In addition, you can't park at a big lot around Yankee stadium either (the lot around the stadium is pretty damn samall). And both Shea and Phiadelphia are pretty easy to get in and out of as major highways are located by the ballpark. In theory it's easy, but traffic destroys it. It's much easier to do Shea via public transportation. Yankee Stadium had several different parking options. There's a regular lot, and a multi-story large garage. But the best way to get in and out is still the train. That's the way it should be for a sport played everyday. Quit driving everywhere and take the darn train. what if you're in a city with bad/no public transportation options (ie, Los Angeles)? btw, nothing is cooler than parking your car and then taking a ferry across the river to get to PNC in Pittsburgh.
  15. this presumption that Guzman will be any better is not grounded in anything tangible. "Upside" doesn't mean jack when it comes to actually getting guys out on game day. Change for the sake of change (after ONE START) seems like a tad bit of overreaction to me
  16. doesn't work that way. If the guy's making an honest effort to come back and he keeps getting hurt, there are no grounds to void the contract. I know, and it's guaranteed contract, etc. One might hope that a guy would say "look, i'm not earning this money" and renegotiate out of good faith (though i'm sure Fehr and the Union boys would squash that notion)
  17. Last I checked, Murton hasn't been benched. Just sayin'.....but by all means, go on with the hyperbolic ranting
  18. You can't say "Marquis may have been good in one start, but he'll suck this year" out of one side of your mouth and "Miller had one bad start, so he's guaranteed to suck" out the other.
  19. the camera man looks like he's trying to get a shot up Hester's skirt there
  20. i assume tonight's game is local tv only?
  21. That was early spring training. So, Eldred took the attitude of, If I want playing time, I'll play some place else. He approached management and asked to try the outfield. They liked his attitude and gave him a shot, and he played it well enough. He'll probably get a start every other week between first and right. pirates are bad about having good players with no position. They wasted Craig Wilson because of that
  22. CSN, so i won't be able to watch. I'm sure I'll make an appearance or two in the game thread though
