  1. Zambrano's been better, but it's only by a slight margin. Zambrano's ERA+ is 50 Miller's ERA+ is 43 OUCH By comparison: Hill: 608  Lilly: 165 Marquis: 148
  2. Preseason, we expected the pitching to rank like this: 1. Zambrano 2. Hill 3. Lilly 4. Miller 5. Marquis but it has really been: 1. Hill 2. Lilly 3. Marquis 4. Miller 5. Zambrano The bullpen was also thought to be a strength but has been feast or famine
  3. the bulls have a first round rematch from a year ago. I think that's plenty of incentive to play hard
  4. With a 9th inning bases loaded nobody out threat, only to hit into a triple play. The triple play shall unfold thusly: Matt Murton is on 3rd base, Derrek Lee on 2nd, and A-Ram on 1st. Jacque Jones at bat. Closer Bob Wickman uncorks a wild pitch to the back stop. Murton panics or a second before stumbling towards home, where he is tagged out by 10 feet. In the mean time, Lee attempts to take third and Ramirez second, but Lee gets caught in a run down, and both Derrek and Aramis end up standing on second, where Lee is tagged out. Thinking the ballgame is over, Ramirez starts trotting back to the dugout where he is tagged for the third out. After this play, NSBB posters will blame Jacque for the loss
  5. i think Nocioni may be an X factor again. He has stepped it up 2 years in a row in the post season, and his defensive energy is contagious. If he can cover Walker while Wallace/Brown/Thomas take their lumps with Shaq, then Wade is the biggest threat. I think it's going to be a very entertaining series. Too bad I'll miss Game 1 (as well as Games 3-5 as i'll be out of the country)
  6. enjoy it Sox fans. You're still finishing 4th
  7. Redman's ERA is 12 runs higher than Hill's? Braves win 14-1
  8. Eh? Don't we need to do a ping pong ball blower-thingy first before we know that? We were tied for 5th (or was it 6th?) yesterday. Worst case scenario was we'd wind up at 10th, and we did. Knicks won and everyone else lost. As for the ping pong balls, we know have a lot fewer ping bong balls to be blown... If I understand it correctly, it's either get incredibly lucky and land in the top 3... or wind up 10th (or worse, if a later picking lottery team gets lucky with the ping pong balls). i still think the draft lottery is a sham until they actual draw the ping pong balls live. All this secret drawing, envelope nonsense is crap Wait... you think the idea of Stern telling the refs to call the games in favor of the Heat is ludicrous yet you think the draft lotto is fixed? Seems contradictory to me. Frankly, I think both conspiracy theories are ludicrous. Okay, sham is the wrong word. But there is no reason to hide the drawing. In fact, I think it would be more exciting to see the ping pong balls come out then the super boring envelope reveal
  9. I don't necessarily think that, but the NBA has shown a tendency to put poorer officials in a position to have to call a pivotal game for a team on the road. Bad officials tend to be swayed by home crowds. And if you don't think the officials-whether by league mandate or not-call a different game for certain players, I don't know what to tell you. sure they do. We benefited from that for a dozen years with jordan, who comitted offensive fouls almost every time he scored and never got called. I just grow weary of the knee-jerk "the refs lost us the game" excuse every game.
  10. The Cubs took Hamilton from Tampa Bay in the Rule 5, then traded him to Cincinnati

  12. if everyone already believes that David Stern has sat down with the refs and told them to let the Heat win, well I don't know what to add to this thread anymore. That's completely ludicrous
  13. the good news is that tonight's game was an aberration compared to the rest of the 2nd half of the year
  14. maybe the players believe in curses because nutbags like sully believe in curses. it's all so dumb.
  15. Nope, just bad baseball. I can see bad baseball, I can't see curses. you can't see the same things happening to different cubs teams year after year after year? the cubs are cursed. go away. seriously. maybe the cubs expect to lose because their fans expect them to lose.
  16. so when did they start calling the game in the 8th? Oh wait, that's right, the game's not over.
  17. regardless of the outcome here, I am very much looking forward to the playoffs. You guys can't bring me down
  18. buehrle has no effect on the Cubs whatsoever. get over it these Sox fans have something more to brag about... i don't know any sox fans so it really doesn't matter. i only care about the cubs
  19. buehrle has no effect on the Cubs whatsoever. get over it
  20. listen, there was no guarantee of that. None. Just like there is no guarantee they won't make it on this side of the bracket. The Bulls did very well against the Heat and Pistons this year. Quit crying and support your team
  21. The refs made sure to take Deng out of the game right away with some absolutely ridiculous offensive foul calls. i'm sure that was their plan all along
  22. Touche. No curse, bad baseball. if you think it's just bad baseball you haven't been a cubs fan for long. bad baseball doesn't last 100 years. if you traded rosters with the Yankees and had them play in Chicago, they would win
  23. Awesome? They've been just horrible in the 4th quarter. i meant 2nd half of the season
