  1. so now lou is going to run up his pitch count?
  2. has ramirez hit th first pitch all 3 times at bat tonight?
  3. i want to steer away from the "value" thing for a sec and re-ask the question again: how valuable is a player who puts up a high OPS but doesn't add runs to the scoreboard?
  4. who would trade us a .900 OPS corner OFer for our .668 OPS corner OFer? post like this make my brain hurt
  5. Randolf's set to make $13.34M next year. The Bulls would have to package more than Noc (sign and trade) to make the money work most likely. Boers and Bernstein said they could make Stoudamire work, so they could make Randolph work. They have the $8mil from PJ Brown plus their MLE to work with They could make Stoudemire work because they would be signing and trading Deng to get him -- probably throwing in Tyrus as well. What kind of package are you suggesting for Randolf? The $8M for PJ Brown is gone and you can't use the MLE like that. That is, you can't take $XM and add it to the MLE to sign a player. why is the $8 mil gone? Because he's an UFA. right, but doesn't his salary clear your cap to be used for someone else?

  8. Ramirez either just singled or K'd, I can't tell on my little feed
  9. someone hooked me up with a "less than legal" feed to this game online, but it's roughly the size of an average NSBB avatar (with no audio)
  10. Not the NFL draft. Number 3 is worth a lot more than that. totally. Dwyane Wade was picked ONE pick ahead of Kirk Hinrich. Carmelo Anthony was a #3
  11. Conley's their man at 3. I would try to trade down if I was them -- if at all possible. Conley is not the third best prospect in this draft. He may not be in the top 10. Of course, he does play the position of Atlanta's biggest need. Conley at 3 would likely work out for them, but you should be able to get him much lower (maybe even their #11 pick). That said, Atlanta has to be absolutely thrilled to be #3 -- they get two picks in the top 11 when they had the chance of having none. they'll screw it up
  12. someone just IM'd me saying they already heard #9 pick for Randolph
  13. Randolph please
  14. Difference between you hitting a double and a home run = not dependent on your teammates at all Difference between you hitting a double that gives you an RBI/you get a run after the double, and not getting the RBI/run on the double = ENTIRELY dependent on your teammates difference between you hitting a double and a homer is, in part, due to the pitch being thrown/called, which is, in part, effected by who is no-deck, who (if anyone is on base), what the score is, when in the game it is, whether the wind is blowing in or out.... Clearly, there are way too many variables to decide. MLB needs to make a couple 400-sided die with every player's name on it and whoever's name comes up wins the MVP for that league. ha ha ha, nice comeback.

  16. and another reason I picked Hardy over Chipper: Stats with RISP: Hardy: 44 AB (53 PA), .341/.434/.705, 4 HR, 27 RBI Jones: 45 AB (55 PA), .200/.345/.533, 4 HR, 16 RBI so there you go. nearly identical #of chances with RISP, and Hardy has produced more runs for his team.
  17. EVERYTHING in baseball is team dependent. NOTHING happens in a vacuum
  18. Without a doubt. The MVP has nothing to do with your teammates. then they should rename it Player of the Year and take the word "valuable" out of it The "Player of the Year" contributes the most "value". I don't see what's so hard about this. i think valuable can be interepreted too many ways (as we've seen in this thread) Then why say they should remove the word? so all you guys stop being pissed when people give it to who they think is most valuable instead of giving it to the statistically best player
