    neither are check swings or checking with the 1st/3rd base ump on them. I think that if a starting pitcher can't get a win without pitching 5 innings that no pitcher can get a win prior to the 6th inning.

    everyone worth a crap got injured. They are rolling out an outfield of Francisco, Sizemore and Gutierrez these days and Andy Marte is hitting about .150 for what it's worth, Sizemore is pretty decent i wasn't trying to bunch him in with the other two talent-wise, but that outfield is a little like Sosa/Bullet/Timmons right now. Plus they've had very little out of Hafner or Martinez

    aren't there rules regarding this? Apparently, she was eligible because she is a Russian citizen (gained while she was playing there) and has never represented the U.S. in international play. I think it's ridiculous, personally. Yeah, Jim Caple insinuates that the only people who can have a problem with this are people hung up on the Cold War. I think it's really odd that somebody can compete for a country simply because they played some pro ball there. I wouldn't expect any of the Russian women to represent the US in tennis, or Lance Armstrong to ride for the French. It's kind of silly if you ask me. It's one thing to be born in one country, and then move to and become a citizen of another country and represent them. And I also don't think it's the same as coaches working for players/teams from another country. Isn't there an American girl swimming for Zimbabwe?

    I love the fact that DirecTV has mirrored all of the stations with Olympic coverage onto channels 750-756. Makes channel flipping a lot easier

    a look at the year-end leader boards for most K's is likely to be heavily populate with all-stars

    FWIW, for as bad as a lot of people here think DLee has been this year, Howard has been worse. Granted, Howard is younger and has been significantly better over his career, but I just thought it was an odd time to pick that name out. i was referring to last year, obviously. either way, your sluggers are almost always going to K a lot

    It has to do with extra inning games. Starting with the 11th inning, every half inning will begin with runners at first and second. Also, you can start the 11th inning wherever you want in the lineup. oh, that's a great idea. How about we start with a 1-1 count like in softball too?

    yes. we're not talking about sox fans here is there any chance Sox fans won't do that stuff, just to make Cubs fans look bad, or because they are pissed? This sort of stuff is going to happen. Hopefully it's isolated and minimal, but it's a mistake to think Cubs fans are above bad behavior. i think it's more likely to happen outside wrigleyville
