  1. Z has been working with Marmol on their mechanics
  2. The #2 spot is more than just OBP...he needs to be able to hit and run, hit to the right side with a runner on second and less than two outs, bunt, etc etc. He obviously feels comfortable putting Blanco there if Theriot's not. Has nothing to do with being a SS. no one needs to hit and run, ever Why not? This team hits into quite a bit of DP's it seems. And also, I love aggressiveness on the basepaths....putting pressure on the opponents defense...we never do either of those things. because they rarely work

  4. ugh, Lou with the "SS hits 2nd" lineup, despite Blanco's .289 OBP
  5. Self-loathing Cubs fans make for bad threads
  6. Sage Rosenfels, come on down
  7. the Indians aren't doing anything in that division until they sort their pitching out. they need to get Carmona back to form, and they need some harder throwers. Guys like Sowers, Huff and Laffey just aren't going to cut it. The offense seems fairly set. Next year you'll probably see an outfield of LaPorta, Sizemore and Shoo, with some combo of Peralta, Cabrera, Marte, Carroll and Valbuena in the infield, and then Toregas/Marson at catcher. Very young and potentially pretty good.
  8. I heard Jose Hernandez is our emergency catcher
  9. Believe me, if the Red Sox were still in their drought, ESPN would be making a Bill Buckner documentary too
  10. Terry Francona now gets to try to keep 6 guys happy with only 4 spots to play them. Hope Kotchman likes his 2 at-bats per week
  11. This actually hurts the Sox in the short term, as Clayton Richard was in their starting rotation
  12. Not a bad idea for the Sox. Their window (with Thome/Konerko/Dye) is closing rapidly. Might as well go for it. Then again, there is no guarantee the Sox will be anywhere close to playoff race by the time he's healthy
  13. Jon Heyman (MLBN) seems to think there are no legs to a Halladay to Anaheim deal
  14. Peavy agreed? that's what they're saying, yeah
  15. just confirmed on MLBN for Clayton Richard Adam Russell Aaron Poreda Dexter Carter
  16. a friend of mine (Red Sox fan) says that the Red Sox are actually looking to cut payroll some down the road, and that guys like Lowell and Varitek aren't long for the team post 2009
  17. You just need a team full of hitters who put the ball on the ground when the wind blows in and in the air when the wind blows out, and a staff of pitchers who induce ground balls with the wind blowing out and fly balls with in blowing in. How hard is that?
