Do you think Castros really ready? The last thing we want is to rush the guy. It will be interesting to see if Jaramillo can work miracles with Castro. All of the stories have said that Hendry is kind of prepping Theriot for a move to 2B, but I really think Castro needs a little more time in the minors. It wouldn't surprise me if he's called up part way into the season. You're right about not wanting to rush him. There would be a lot of pressure on a 20 year old playing SS on a contending team. It's been Hendry's M.O. to rush top prospects (see: Patterson, Pie, etc.) so it wouldn't surprise me if he broke camp with the big team
Maybe personally you feel that way, but there's no way he isn't a first ballot guy given what voters look at: He's extremely popular in the baseball community, a MVP award, multiple gold gloves at SS, nearly a career .300 hitter, 12 All-Star games. He's a lock. he's pretty low on the Gray Ink test (if you put any weight into that) he's also far behind in most HoF stat milestones. We'll see how the vote goes Ironically, he won the MVP in 1995, but finished 12th in the voting in 1996 (for a season that was far, far better)
Alomar (minus spitting) is a no-brainer. But the spitting will get blown completely out of proportion and overshadow his entire career (in the eyes of the voters)
that must be fairly new, because I don't remember much (outside of "Jump") being played that wasn't on the organ. Then again, I haven't been to a game since the "Go, Cubs, Go!" nonsense started
Completely agree. Go to a White Sox game and enjoy a never ending barrage of advertisements over the PA system and corporate sponsored replays and shell games between every inning. Maybe someone will hit a HR into the Nissan Kids Fun Zone or over the Papa John's right center field wall! ..... or into the Bud Light Bleachers ???? I knew that was coming
