  1. I think every team should consist of just 9 players, and when your pitcher gets tired, they have to swap with another defender on the field (who then comes in as the relief pitcher)
  2. The Notre Dame ship has sailed. They have like 6 years left on their TV contract. Yes, they'd probably make more money in the Big Ten (who has deals with ESPN, ABC and CBS) but I doubt NBC lets them out. Plus, as I've said, they've rejected the league twice already, so [expletive] them. Texas? LOL
  3. if the Big Ten believes that championship game = $$$$, then this will happen
  4. SSR, there are plenty of reasons to expand, as I've already pointed out. The Big Ten wants to get a marquee game on Championship Saturday. They want to expand the territory of the Big Ten Network. You may not agree with the reasons, but saying "there is no reason to expand" is simply false. And they aren't even going to ask Notre Dame. They've been rejected twice and have no intent of even asking again. It'll be Pitt, Mizzou or Rutgers
  5. With excellent timing, AP names Tiger their Male Athlete of the Decade
  6. R.I.P. Chris Henry :( http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4750615
  7. I'm down
  8. I thought PSU and Illinois were generally considered the biggest party schools in the Big Ten
  9. Even then, they probably won't. The extra roster slots will be filled by league-minimum players while some high-priced superstars will suddenly be exposed as incomplete ballplayers (or have nowhere to play; if the DH suddenly disappeared, what would the Red Sox do with David Ortiz, for example?)
  10. Colin Cowherd thinks Rutgers is the best choice, which means its probably the worst choice. He cited the NYC market, which goony and several others have already explained doesn't really exist for "New Jersey State". His other reasons are accessibility of the campus (lame, as State College, Bloomington, West Lafayette, etc. aren't exactly booming metropolitan areas), campus size, enrollment size, and academic standing.
  11. apparently the Red Sox are working on contract language that protects them in case of pre-existing injury
  12. But his name is awesome
  13. Ron Artest's ridiculously bad shot selection is keeping the Bulls in this game
  14. Link to the Dispatch article: http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2009/12/15/oller_12-15.ART_ART_12-15-09_C1_FAG0G3J.html?sid=101
  15. Local paper had an article about this today, and said one of the driving forces behind this is that Big Ten AD's (and presidents) don't like the fact that Big Ten football is out of the national spotlight 3 weeks before the rest of college football is over. Adding a bye week next year at least gets them to play after Thanksgiving, but there is a strong desire to have the Big Ten on a national stage along with the other BCS conferences who have a title game, with the game likely to take place either in Indy or Soldier Field
  16. He wanted a 4th year, but Hendry said he didn't have a leg to stand on
  17. agreed. A division with OSU, Michigan, PSU and Pitt would be so awesome
  18. OTHER DUDE'S WEINERS
  19. I don't see the need to split Ohio State and Michigan. They'd still play "the game" as the final regular season game each year, and if/when Michigan becomes good again, that game may be decide who goes to the championship game. It's not like the SEC said "we HAVE to split up Alabama and Auburn" (for example).
  20. new idea for an Onion article: "MLB folds after Red Sox sign every player in baseball"
  21. Rankings of what? Quality of pizza on campus? http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/national-universities-rankings
  22. Pitt would fit right in Nationwide rankings Northwestern - 12 Michigan - 27 Illinois - 39 (T) Wisconsin - 39 (T) Penn State - 47 Ohio State - 53 PITT - 56 Purdue - 61 Minnesota - 61 Indiana - 71 Michigan State - 71 Iowa - 71
  23. if you put CubbieBum on ignore and then go back and reread the thread, there are a few good posts
  24. nevermind
