  1. Okay, how about this: NL West: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Colorado, Miami, Washington, Houston, Arizona NL East: New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Milwaukee AL West: Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Kansas City, Texas, Minnesota, Chicago, expansion AL East: New York, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Cleveland, expansion Cleveland or Chicago can flip to the other division depending on where the expansions go. 84 divisional games (12 x 7) 64 opposite division games (8 x 8) 14 interleague games (6 with rival, 4 at home, 4 away against two other teams)
  2. Sharkeroo it's like shark with an -eroo
  3. There are other bad pitchers on the Cubs and in baseball, but I'd contend that no other pitcher has the reputation for being bad that Marquis has.
  4. I don't like a 162-game season coming down to a 1-game playoff unless it absolutely has to.
  5. Abolishing divisions is an interesting proposition. I think we should just go back to NL West and NL East, eight and eight in this case, and the top two teams from each division play in the NLDSs, which I suppose could be extended to 7 so that Cardinals-Cubs has the appropriate gravity, even if it's round 1. Also, check this out. You can align the NL East to basically be the pre-1958 National League: Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New York, Cincinnati, Brooklyn Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New York, Cincinnati, Atlanta The Brewers take the place of the Dodgers, the Mets take the place of the Giants, and the Braves change towns. Of course, the problem is that the Marlins and Nationals get stuck in the NL West, but the Reds and Braves were able to survive, and those teams actually have more than 500 fans! Population distribution makes it so that you'll never get it perfect, but I like my idea.
  6. I've said for a while that he's gone if they miss the playoffs, but I have a feeling they snag the wild card and we get one or two more years of Ned.
  7. Corey Hart underestimated The Riot on that one.
  8. Ryan Braun is like the opposite of a St. Louis outfielder.
  9. This was a commentary on the people at Wisconsin games who were giving one of you guys a hard time. I was just a little late on the post.
  10. College sports brings out the dumbest of the dumb, I swear.
  11. recap of this would be appreciated. The old Twins owner was tired of pine tar also, black people
  12. His bat is ready, but his defense at third is horrid. A guy in the Brewers system who can't field his position? Balderdash!
  13. Gee, I was kind of hoping there was some sort of quantifiable argument for this. I wanted to read it.
  14. This is fun. Usually, the Blue Jays stay in the shadow of the Yankees and Red Sox, and just play out the string year after year up in Canada. Now they're bringing back the 1993 coaching staff and their GM goes on the radio to talk crap about Adam Dunn. The Blue Jays just went from mediocre to fun-bad, and as long as it's not the Cubs, I love fun-bad.
  15. Overuse He hasn't pitched since Sunday.
  16. I hope we can get a win against the Salt Lake City Rays.
  17. I'm gonna FedEx a popsicle-stick cross, a teddy bear, and some mylar balloons down to Missouri. They should be there by Tuesday, I hope.
  18. It seems like a lot of people claim they hate Jay Mariotti, but are unable to articulate exactly why that is. I think he provides a necessary voice amidst all the fanboyism in Chicago sports media. Don't you get tired of all those courtesy laughs from the reporters at Lou and Ozzie's respective press conferences?
  19. Were they doing the war chant after the home run? I swear they were.
