  1. Hitting coaches do more than "emphasize patience and OBP"
  2. That's only marginally better than the rest of the team......... 05/21 - 06/13 AB R H 2b 3b HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP P/PA IsoD RBI% CUBS 731 67 173 35 3 18 66 72 174 0.237 0.310 0.367 0.677 0.288 3.82 0.073 0.127 Holy crap. The offense sucks.
  3. I noticed when Len and Bob gave the lineups that Theriot was leading at .278. That's rough.
  4. I think that Joshua can really help this team. I don't think it is necessarily teach a new approach that will help. He is going to be a different voice and will have his own ideas to get these hitters back to where they should be. I don't like losing Perry and I don't like taking away Joshua from the minors, but I think this will help teh team a lot this season.
  5. I think today is the beginning of the whole offense starting to click, specifically Soto and Bradley. I think we begin the turnaround today. Of course, Von Joshua will get the credit. :D I don't have the same faith that Marmol gets his control back.
  6. Those are for fantasy leagues, I think. I am pretty sure actual replacement level is lower
  7. Rosenthal came across as a total ass to me
  8. Was Eric Brady (SS from Cary, NC) ever drafted?
  9. How often do you get these stats 1.082 WHIP with a .054 BAA
  10. Guys, the NCAA hates Alabama for some reason.
  11. Let's post that in another thread
  12. Z would literally have killed Braun
  13. Alabama supposedly has to vacate their wins from 2005 to 2007. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4250596 What is your excuse, RedFlash?
  14. Gregg is not great by any means, but he should be a serviceable closer. ZiPS projects his FIP to be 4.02 for the rest of the season and his ERA to be 3.94. That does not "suck".
  15. Yes, Bronson's Arroyo's FIP of 5.50 really excites me. As does Micah Owings' FIP of 5.09. They both scream good pitching staff. 2/5 of your starting rotation has an FIP over 5. The Cubs have maybe 1 over 4.5. There is also no way that Harden finishes with that, either.
  16. LYeah, because Encarnacion was hitting with a broken wrist and couldn't catch up to a fastball. That'll hurt your hitting. Coming into this year Encarnacion's career OPS was .803. So far Rosales is OPSing .655. You can't honestly think Rosales is better. Bradley and Harden are injury prone, and everybody knew that when you acquired them. They'll get hurt again. You can't tell me that Bradley isn't going to be much better in the future than right now. Same with Harden. They have both been extremely unlucky What about Soriano's knee, Ramirez's shoulder, Soto's shoulder, Zambrano's hamstring? Those injuries are still much more than the Reds have had to deal with, even when you take away injuries to two of our best players.
  17. And he has lost a full win in the field each year.
  18. You are probably helping me when you tell me that your fourth best player is Edwin Encarnacion. He is not that good. Seriously, your starting LF is Lance Nix. Your starting CF is Willy Taveras. Your starting SS is Alez Gonzalez. Oh and Jay Bruce has been worth -.7 runs with the bat this year. He was worth -1.4 last year in about twice the at bats. So, Jay Bruce has pretty much produced exactly the same as last year, with the bat. He has been much better in the field, though. Kevin Gregg is not as bad as he has been this season. Not even close.
  19. Encarnacion is not that good at all. Rosales has been a full win better than Encarnacion this year. Injuries to Votto and Volquez is nothing compares to the injuries to Bradley, Lee, Soriano, Zambrano, and Harden.
  20. LOL. Out best player is out for a few months. Our third and fourth best position players have been banged up all year (Bradley and Lee). Soto and Soriano have also had injuries to put them out for stretchs at a time. Bradley, Soriano, Fontenot, and Soto are all sure bets to significantly improve by the end of the season. Lee has only started to play like he can be expected to. Our top two starting pitchers have both been put on the DL. Our main set-up guy and our closer are both sure to get better. But yea, you're right. The Reds are better than the Cubs because they are a game ahead in the standings in early June (and tied in the loss column)
  21. I thought mods couldn't ignore anybody. But you guys are right. I am adding him to my ignore list.
