  1. So Trachsel was basically aquired to spot start vs. the Redbirds For crying out loud if Hancock wouldn't have decided to drive while loaded and on his cell phone..this trade would have never happend.
  2. Trachsel is a veteran though, so he has that intangible "grit" factor that everyone is forgetting. :P
  3. Sad day for Muskat as she won't be able to use her clever "Cherry Pie" line anymore in her articles.
  4. wow..I noticed Steve looks um.."mentally challenged" in his espn.com pic http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5172.jpg der, have you guys seen my baseball?
  5. True, but Trachsal is bad enough to really, really hurt this team. Not really, since he's not replacing anyone in the starting rotation. oh, with that BB/K ratio, he can do plenty of damage out of the pen.

  7. Not to pick on you, Tim, but this gets brought up a lot when talking about Kendall. Nobody seemed to care when Barrett was on the team and couldn't throw anyone out or call a good game. Back then, the majority of the board seemed to think, "Who cares about the defense, his offense is well above-average." Now, with Kendall exceeding expectations with the bat, his defense gets brought up as a reason to bench him. Don't really understand it There were plenty of people who expressed disssatisfaction with Barretts defense and this is the primary reseason why he was shipped out of Chicago.
  8. Get him on them roids! (kidding...sort of)
  9. That is grossly overpaying. I believe that's what the market has shown to be. What Kendall is being paid now is being grossly overpaid. Like it or not, players don't take that drastic pay cuts unless they completely can't play at all anymore. 5M/year is a lot for a backup catcher, but if Blanco can get 2.5M, I'm sure Kendall could get 5. That still doesn't mean the Cubs have to be that team to give it to him. Save that task for Ned Colleti. I'd offer him 1 year @ 1 million tops. I understand that, but what happens if Soto doesn't perform. Granted it's been 33 ABs, but he hasn't hit in his major league stints. And despite the mammoth season this year, it's the only time he's been over a .756 OPS. Also, he's had some injury problems in the past. Blanco or Koyie Hill production for a long period of time could be disasterous for a team with offensive holes elsewhere. Agree, that is a risk. Too bad we couldn't get a better idea of his production at this level...but we just haaaad to give Koyie Hlll those 93 AB's. That still pisses me off.
  10. I could not agree more. The last few years Cubs fans seem like they can't help but boo even the most inconsequential things, and it keeps getting worse. If we don't want to be viewed as Lovable Losers that's fine (good, in fact), but it doesn't mean we have to be Ignorant Idiots, or Philly fans. I've also noticed a change at Wrigley the last few seasons. There's just this different vibe that doesn't seem right. It's the same feeling you get at Philly and New York games: that at any moment things could get ugly. They have been serving us really stale Old Style, that is the problem, IMO.

  12. Ohman has always struck me as a loud mouth
  13. In what strange universe is the PCL MVP blocked by Koyie freakin Hill.
  14. Is this year Trachsel's "good" year, or is it next year?
  15. Good luck with that. who would you offer? Pie, Marshall, and Guzman i think would be a pretty fair package for someone like Crawford or Bay. That would not be enough to get Bay
  16. Bay and Swisher are not going anywhere the next few years
  17. Probably because the Cubs history regarding position players has been absolute crap.
