  1. I hate Ryan Braun but not really the rest of the Brewers really. The Cardinals are the epitome of evil.
  2. As an Iowa fan I'm cool with the expansion :)
  3. It'd be nice if this jump-started them again, though I'm not holding my breath. I'm a little nervous that it seemed like only the 4th line was doing anything (aka they won't duplicate that effort often). I didn't pay that close attention tonight though so maybe the rest of the lines played well and the 4th line just did all the scoring.
  4. I got tickets to what would be game 7 of the first round. I don't I'll actually be able to go because of the unlikelyhood of a game 7 occurring and then most likely not being able to get off work since it will still be a bit before we here when that game would even be (in the past do they usually try to get game 7 to fall on a weekend or do they not really care about what day it falls upon.) If I do actually get to go though it would be pretty awesome. It would be my second ever post season even for any sport (I was lucky enough to go to an NLDS game in '03 at Wrigley. Unfortunately it was game 4, which the Cubs lost).
  5. I'm pretty pumped for next year to start.
  6. For awhile the team was getting out to decent leads and collapsing late. I still had hope they'd get things figured out because they were outplaying the other team for most of the game. Now they are getting beat down by bad teams. I'm still hopeful though. They have a couple of games to figure it out and all it takes is a playoff win or two to regain confidence and get a hot streak going. I'm still hopeful for that.
  7. at least the hawks had the courtesy to lower our expectations before the postseason started and are letting us know what to expect. the 2008 cubs waited until the postseason to blindeside us The Cubs showed potential in September. Either way, sports are getting on my last nerve.
  8. This Blackhawks team has potential to be more depressing then the 2008 Cubs.
  9. [expletive]. This thread is making me want a magical year (good Cubs team) again so bad and it probably won't happen this year.
  10. A week ago they were tied for the best record in the conference. Yes they are playing terribly, but from the stats I have seen, it doesn't matter how well you play going into the playoffs. Being hot or cold near the playoffs is not indicative of playoff performance. The playoffs are a weird animal. It's possible that the Hawks don't win again in the regular season and then turn on a switch of some kind. It's hard to be optimistic right now though.
  11. Sweet. Right back into the race to get destroyed by Cleveland.
  12. yeah i'm pretty usre detroit would beat us right now. luckily though, it looks like detroit will probably finish with the 4 or 5 seed It'd take a hot streak from Nashville and us to sink even lower but we could as well.
  13. God I hope they don't face Detroit in the first round. I just don't see how they can beat them when they are slumping like this.
  14. If Butler and Duke play in the final then the Hoosiers references are going to be off the charts.
  15. I'm hoping Baylor and Butler because it would be something different (and I hate Duke).
  16. It doesn't matter too much too me and it's kind of off topic so I don't want to talk much more about it but I found it moderately interesting so I searched for the average length a of a major league career and found this article. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/15/sports/baseball/15careers.html?_r=1&ref=baseball&oref=slogin If it's correct then the average career last 5-6 years so I doubt it's much of a stretch to say plenty of players make it to 8 years. I guess players are lucky to make it that far but it takes luck to do pretty much anything somewhat successful so I don't understand why it's worth pointing out.
  17. If Iowa becomes a consistent bubble team in the near future I'd be satisfied. I'm not really expecting to be a top team in the conference. I think he can lead us to be a consistent middle of the pack team.
  18. I actually got one final four team right and Duke is still alive so I could have 2 final four teams and a team in the title game. That's not too bad compared to what it sounds like everyone else has.
  19. That's pretty much what I'm thinking.
  20. Not really. He's fairly accurate. The only requirement for making the HOF ballot is 10 years of service time. Since the ballot isn't flooded year after year, the vast majority of guys don't accumulate 10 years of service time. I'd say that's not every player isn't it?
  21. Sounds like Iowa might have their coach. Fran McCaffery from Siena. Hope he can recruit.
  22. And no number one seeds.
  23. Has a school been host of a final four (or tourny site period) that they've also played in? I think Butler is listed as a host.
  24. Definitely the case, but seeing this makes me disregard the "major" conference stuff: Per Ken Pomeroy, KSU has had the toughest run to the Elite 8. Of the remaining teams, only KSU has played (and will play) at least three teams in Ken Pom's top fifteen: BYU: 10 Xavier: 15 Butler: 14 Should KSU win today, and Ken Pom gives them a 68% chance, they'll have had the toughest road to the Final Four out of ANY team in the tournament, regardless of the seeding. The only other team with a comparable schedule according to Pomeroy? Butler. Oh, I didn't mean it as a knock to K-State in any means. I just thought it was interesting.
