I wish the Blackhawks would be shown on WGN America in addition to the Chicago Station although America's Funniest Home video reruns are exciting.

There was a decent shot that Ohio State wouldn't be bowl eligible if they lost this one but since they play Purdue and Indiana still it's looking like they will finish at worst, 6-6. Also, nobody will score when Penn State and Ohio State play.

Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State all seem like identical teams (Really good defenses with bad to mediocre offenses).

I think MSU vs Wisconsin will be interesting next week. Michigan State probably has the defense to slow Wisconsin down and it's in East Lansing at night.

Robinson isn't the best thrower but it does look very windy.

It wouldn't be ethical but if the Sox didn't let the Cubs have Theo, what would stop him from trading good players from Boston to Chicago so they'd be there next year when his contract does expire?

Pretty much seems like the Sox are trying to scare the Cubs through the public to do something stupid, which is pretty much what has been said. I doubt it works as judging by the way Ricketts has handled things, I doubt he can be intimidated that way.

I think it is a joke how pathetic the Red Sox have been with leaks throughout this process. Ricketts on the other hand has remained cool and calm. This is going to get done, and Ricketts has gained a ton of respect in the process. Has there been a single leak from the Cubs side of things? All the reports seem to come from Boston's side.

The only positives I could come up with is that Quade doesn't have much pull in the Majors I wouldn't think, because his one year managing his team was awful, so if he is told to change his managing style he would.

links It boils down to people saying that the Cubs players still suck, as if the GM has no power to replace them and then they just say John Lackey and Carl Crawford repeatedly. I have a Cubs fan bitching because he wanted Friedman, and is convinced Ricketts is broke and will drop the payroll to 80M Yeah, I'm arguing with some of these people and I don't really know why.

Nope. He's absolutely right. Listen to your bitter cube made from Boston. I think GM's get more credit and take more blame then they really should get anyway. Theo is new blood to a lifeless orgainization and the GM position. I am excited but I have tempered expectations for the short term, greater for long term. Why do you feel this way? Considering they are the guy who puts a team together I can't agree with this. Aside from limitations placed upon them by owners and payroll I would think they have one of the biggest impacts on team performance.

I wish a good team from the division would have gone, like the Brewers or something but oh well. The Cubs are going to take over the division anyways so it doesn't matter from that stand point.

Damn, didn't even think of that. Call everything off. he ignores the fact that epstein had the forward thinking to acquire ortiz when the other teams had no interest. Yeah and then force fed him a bunch of steroids so he would hit lots of home runs and cheat his way to 2 world series titles, amirite? The most ridiculous part of that article is that his main thinking is that this signing will go wrong because they're the Cubs.

Yep, for one game, I learned this about 5 or 6 years ago and was surprised my self. Looking at his stats, he scored a run but didn't have an AB, or BB is it looks like he pinch ran.

I wouldn't be too upset, in my mind this shows that Ricketts is serious about his search for a stats guy and what not. I believe that we get out of this with a good GM regardless of who it is. I'm with rocket, and I'd be willing to bet most Boston fans already would like to find someone else. Think of how you'd feel if you knew your GM didn't want to be here anymore. I'd be thinking: get lost then. Don't want you around. Fans are fickle and Boston fans are especially fickle but if he went back to Boston and they won again, which you would think they would, they'd get over it. That said, I'm with everyone else in thinking he is a Cub.

It's possible that Ryno would listen to Theo as he has won championships, thus proving his philosophy works. Meatheads do listen to rings after all. Maybe Ryno, combined with a competent GM wouldn't be as disastrous as people believe. At least as far as how he manages. I too believe good players can make bad managers look good.

All three of the games in this series have been good. I hope Detroit holds on so the series goes pretty deep too.

Chicago is a great town in which you will fall in love with and you are rich and can fly to Boston whenever you want.

It's weird if that's the case, our two rivals for the division may very lose their best players with a good chance that one of them comes to us. We're not going to have to be great to win the division if Pujols and Fielder are gone and one of them are on our team you wouldn't think and that's without even taking the future of the franchise into consideration.
