i dunno, code of honor and players not wanting to forfeit a lot of salary. i mean, this is a pretty harsh penalty. most guys who have gotten 20+ games have done things like swinging a stick into another player's head. this is more of a "hockey play" than trying to decapitate someone with your stick. too bad it got to this point though. the montage in the suspension video makes it obvious that torres just doesn't get it (about checking late and targeting the head). if this suspension doesn't get the message across, then he probably needs to be suspended for at least a year if not banned outright. I have a feeling that if this happens again that may be the result. Wouldn't be surprised if he was told that in his hearing.
