  1. Thats kind of hard to do with the current state of affairs.
  2. Hahah, I hope it was a joke.
  3. Yea lets pull a LaRussa and bat pitcher 8th, would be a nice experiment.
  4. Well the fact that I would have confidence of the first 6 guys getting on base, and the 3-5 hitters having excellent power (not at the moment lol). I consider that dominant... and DeRosa is nothing to sneeze at either.
  5. Oh there is... I have nothing to do during the week but sit on my balcony drinking beer and soaking up the sun. The best part is that tonight I'll go out around 9pm and come back around 3:30am just in time for the Cubs game :)
  6. No I'm talking on the Cubs.com board since the beginning of the season.
  7. leadoff is not a position. :P Fixed
  8. I would be very very very hesitant to lead-off Kendall. Maybe 2nd. But your lead-off guy needs to be able to run as well. Don't let yesterday's triple cloud your judgement about his running ability :P
  9. Another thing is... he had just got his nice power stroke back and was batting .330, then ALL OF A SUDDEN this new Derrek Lee that came about and is 2/22 and swinging unlike how he has been swinging all year.
  10. I got nothing to do during the week in Finland :(
  11. Well "hurt" can mean different things I guess as far as severity. I don't think he has some terrible injury. What I am worried about is if it is his back... that we just wait until the playoffs and then all of a sudden he can't play. There is something wrong with his swing and I don't think it's only mechanical.
  12. My choice of words in "high horse" were wrong and I apologize. I mean hmm... how do I put it... he needs to learn to hit in other spots in the lineup. It is where he truly is needed and would make our healthy lineup completely dominant. Theriot SS Fontenot 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano LF DeRosa RF Jones CF Kendall C Pitcher P Please tell me that is not one of the most dominant lineups in the major leagues?
  13. Ok, I know slumps are a part of baseball... but Lee is: 0/14 in his last 14 at bats. 2/22 in his last 22 at bats. But what is really bothering me isn't his "slump". It's that he looks uncomfortable on his swings like there is something wrong with his back. Anyone else noticed this?
  14. I am not worried about Derrek if he is just in a slump... but something about him doesn't seem right on his swing... let's hope to god he doesn't have some back problem.
  15. Maybe after this injury he'll get off his high horse and learn to be a team player.
  16. Not only did they complain about him possibly injuring himself. But they said Lou should have given Patterson or someone else an at-bat. Overall I like the Rockies announcers though!
  17. Well maybe it's a blessing in disguise, now Theriot can prove once and for all he is the best man for the lead off job.
  18. I'd prefer Tuesday. Take no chances with a guy like Rammy. Exactly! Let him rest his knee and wrist as long as possible... giving him the off day Sunday gives him 2 extra rehab days.
  19. i'm sure i'm going to sound like some type of bonds apologist or giants fan, but i never get this holier-than-thou attitude people have when it comes to athletes and money. "oh, he's just out for himself. he doesn't care about his team." yeah, and so are many other athletes. i find it hard to believe that if we were in his situation we wouldn't try and max out our contract offers. it'd be like if A-Rod said, "well, i don't want people to think i'm greedy, so i better just take a 100 million dollar contract." by the way, bonds is worth 8-10 million as a DH in my opinion. Yeah, he could probably DH and go for 800. Now that he hears about ARod gunning for his record, I would expect him to try to extend the number a little bit. Maybe he should take more steroids and just have another 70 HR year.
  20. As I have said all along but people told me to STFU.
  21. Any new updates on Ward? He took BP yesterday... could he be activated tonight?
  22. Thanks... So with the very small sample size of at bats with the Cubs he's seeing over 4 pitches per plate appearance (very good), and his BA/BIP is .071 (statistically that has to improve) .... I'm not ready to write him off just yet... .286/.385/.777 And that's including an awful first 3-4 games. I'm still not advocating resigning him, but considering Barrett is hitting .230/.238/.528 in the same time period, maybe Hendry deserves some credit for this deal...or at least its not nearly the horrible trade that some made it out to be. All he needed was time, he's a career .300+ hitter, no matter how old he gets he knows how to hit and has seen enough pitches in his time to be able to take walks. I am glad he is stepping it up now.
  23. I really hate seeing Mr. Rallykiller in the line-up... but who knows maybe he'll just get lucky and connect with one of those wild swings and hit a 2-3 run homer!
