  1. And with that, Mike Quade is updating his resume.
  2. I wondered the same thing today. I'm thinking if I called the Tribune with that same info, they would laugh and hang up. And rightfully so. Would love to know how that went down.
  3. ‎"The last couple of weeks, I felt like that guy in Office Space with the stapler in the basement. I kept showing up to work at Fenway Park and it was like somebody forgot to tell me I didn't work there any more."
  4. I understand that he's doing TV interviews only today, and radio interviews tomorrow.
  5. he's gone Officially? No. Theo said he's talked to Mike on the phone. He said Mike sounds like a really "nice" guy who has given a lot to the organization. They will sit down in person "within the next week" or so.
  6. Audio is better on cubs.com, for those having issues.
  7. Interesting that Ricketts went out of his way to launch a pre-emptive strike against all of the Crane Kenney questions he's about to get.
  8. I really hope Theo gets Albert. Albert > Prince Better hitter, fielder, better body for aging. Just IMO, I know there are many who view Prince as the better option, and that surely can be argued. Not to hijack this thread, but Prince will be 27 at the start of next season, and Albert 32. Let's say they each demanded an 8 year deal, just for giggles. At the end, that puts Prince at 35 and Albert at 40. Are you saying Pujols would be better from ages 37-40 than Prince at ages 32-35? I know it would be speculation, and I know Prince is hefty, but that just seems completely absurd.
  9. http://twitter.com/#!/BruceMiles2112 He doesn't tweet much.
  10. Oh, good. I was worried, but as long as Kaplan promises, I feel better.
  11. Ugh, me too. I only called him a dolt. He blocked me for that? Thin skin.
  12. Shocking news! Per a Ken Rosenthal tweet: Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Sources: MacPhail out as #Orioles press of bb ops. Will not return in any capacity. Showalter expected to remain mgr; situation fluid. #MLB
  13. This Sporcle quiz is always entertaining, for anyone who wants to kill some time. Cubs opening day lineups from 1990-2011: http://www.sporcle.com/games/htimsetan/cubs_opening_day_lineups
  14. Wait till you guys see the uniforms. The logo looks classy and timeless, in comparison.
  15. 15 teams in each league would mean year-round interleague play. Not such a fan.
  16. Pat Hughes is off tonight. This will be the 2nd game he's missed in a couple of weeks. I might be wrong, but for the life of me I can't ever remember him taking a day off before this season. Makes me wonder if something's up.
  17. Of course, this move would save roughly $3 million if it stands. Seems like a shrewd move in a lost season, although I can't imagine it will stand on appeal.
  18. Yes, people here are VERY sensitive that you follow all rules and regulations. There will be no deviation in something as serious as a dying Cubs message board. As you can see, these strict guidelines have created a vibrant community with hundreds, ney, thousands of posters. I can barely keep up with all the conversation happening here. I mean, we get 1 or 2 new threads a day! Sometimes it gets as crazy as three per day, if you count the game threads! How dare you add to the clutter around here!
  19. I hope one of these old guys starts a suit trend. It's ridiculous for fat old men like Lou Piniella and Bobby Cox to walk around in a baseball uniform.
  20. And he's an admitted PED user! Go A-Rod!
  21. Beautiful! Couldn't have thrown it out there any better.
  22. In my 25 years of watching baseball, I don't remember anything like that kind of stall tactic (not counting every Steve Trachsel pitch). Ridiculous.
  23. With that Alfonsolo homerun, 9 of his 11 homers this year have been with no one on base.
