First off, as we all know already, Bradley is the cheaper option. Second of all, if we sign Adam Dunn we will officially have two train wrecks in the outfield. I mean, heck, whoever plays CF is gonna have to bring a motorized scooter out there to track down balls in the gap.

First off, it's probably not Andy Dolan. Second of all, how is this deal nearly complete despite the numerous reports that a third team must get involved in order for a Peavy-to-Cubs trade to happen.

In the perfect situation and outcome of all the latest rumblings, the Cubs would trade for Peavy and then sign Johnson for 1-year at $10 million. They would then part ways with Ryan Dempster, obviously, after getting these two pitchers. Zambrano Peavy Johnson Harden Lilly

Who says the deal is done exactly? And what does Veterans Day have to do with anything? Teams should be able to make trades.

Ok so I've been reading most of the posts on here and like everyone else have came across someone named Desipio. I'm really confused, who is this guy, and if Theriot is to be traded, who in the hell is going to be our shortstop? Cause to all those people who think Furcal is an option here, you are all wrong. The Cubs can have only so much money on the payroll. Can someone help me out here?

Bruce Levine again made the point this morning that Peavy wants to come here, and that Kevin Towers relationship with Hendry could be the reason why he comes here instead of Atlanta. He also says that Samardzija would not be a deal breaker for the Padres, especially if a third team is included. My prediction is that the Padres will break the ice (errr, sand?), and trade Peavy to the Cubs sometime this week. Just my thinking. Anyone else?

I think the Peavy talks will heat up either tomorrow or Monday morning.

Brad Wilkerson would be a nice signing for a one year deal. -
I remember one time during the playoffs when Kasper was working for Comcast and interviewed Sutcliffe, and right away I noticed how good they were together, and what great chemistry there was. They would be a good combo in the booth, and definitely the best option.

Peavy and family apparently said they would be comfortable with a trade to the Cubs (MLBTR and SD writers). But what would we start with as our proposal? Obviously, Felix Pie, who has been long coveted by the Padres, then..........? Rich Hill? Donald Veal? Mitch Atkins? Casey McGehee? Jose Ceda? (the Pads probably regret trading him in the first place) Mark DeRosa? Sean Marshall? Jason Marquis? Tony Thomas? Or how about a combination of all those players? I think Hendry and Co. should at least look into exploring this trade for Jake Peavy with San Diego. At least make the phone call please.

Why don't the Cubs just try and sign Manny Ramirez to a 6-year, $115 million contract this winter. All problems would be solved then, right? -
I thought he was going to either play in the AFL or on of the Hawaiian league teams, but I don't see him on either roster. So is Hill just going to sit out the winter and just try to get his head back on track while playing some indoor catch, or is he going to appear in one of these leagues for two or three starts/appearances?
