  1. i didn't realize uggla and rollins scored so many points...geez.
  2. having soriano there last year was huge.
  3. are both young and quentin going to be starting?
  4. i'd hardly call it analysis... best infield: lynx is pretty tough with mccann, swisher, durham, hafner, guillen and glaus. tim's got his previously mentioned studs, but weeks is a question mark, and gordon doesn't necessarily have a spot nailed down. tim has the edge at 1b and c, but lynx is better at U and 3b. have to consider raw too...morneau, kinsler, wright, tejada, teahen...that actually may be right up with with juan and tim. shane's got howard, utley, lee and young, but has questions at c and 3b. don's is pretty solid too. pretty tough call there...tim's has the most potential to be very, very good, but juan and raw have fewer holes/question marks. tooterstorms is pretty good too. best outfield: i'd have to say mine's pretty good, and it better be b/c my infield's pretty so-so. andruw, soriano and drew could all be top 10 OF's. HBC is pretty stacked too -- cabrera, berkman, matsui and ibanez. alamo's got c lee and vlad, but a potential part-timer in kemp. if sheffield's healthy, tim is pretty stacked. quakers doesn't have a third stud, but he's got beltran and dunn. if hermida bounces back, raw's OF is pretty good...his OF will definitely have the most steals. HBC might have the edge on me. oops...just looked and cabrera's not OF eligible any more. might be between tim and i with alamo and quakers right behind.
  5. could i put marshall on my minor league roster since he's almost certain to begin the year in AAA?
  6. what about guys who ended last year on the DL and are still working their way back to health...like papelbon, sean marshall?
  7. that's my understanding as well.
  8. i'm fairly happy with mine. i screwed up taking burke in the 6th round. i like him as a sleeper, but that was way too early to pick him up. i'm happy w/ the 3b insurance i picked up with ensberg in the 7th. and i feel like i got three 1st round SP's in myers, bush and smoltz. my starting pitching is much better this year compared to last and my outfield is great, but my infield is probably below average. boy, did i get shut out on the minor leaguers...
  9. wait...so you're saying that predictions are 100% accurate?
  10. i think he's going to be ok.
  11. there's not as many good minor leaguers available this year. tim's cocky ass was picking minor leaguers in the first round. worked out ok for him, though...i think he won the whole thing.
  12. One of my best players last season was Sarge Jr who I picked up off waivers. The key is finding good values later and even on the waiver wire. i got harang and putz off waivers. i mean, i'm not tim or raw, but i do all right.
  13. that's because they're all on DJ and tim's keeper rosters. BEST KEEPER ROSTERS EVER!
  14. i think there's more late first round/second round talent, but not a lot of studs.
  15. Has anyone affiliated with the team indicated anything like this? Rightly or wrongly, it seems like the club itself is feeling pretty good about having Izturis there. agreed. despite the feelings on this board to the contrary, very few if any winning teams have all star players at all 8 positions. if izturis can stay healthy, hit .250 and play excellent defense i think the cubs will be very happy with his production. with 4 potential .900 ops guys (5 if you include murton), i highly doubt a light hitting ss will keep this team from contending. Building a team based on players who wont "keep this team from contending" is hardly a solid approach to take. of course not. the cubs should just trade izturis to the yankees for arod & mariano and then they would be set. somehow the cards managed to win last year with a light hitting short stop just like the sox won with one in 2005. so you're suggesting the best strategy would just be to put the worst offensive ss you can find in there? the cubs tried that last year, and it didn't work.
  16. oops...forgot that zambrano might not be around. if they lose him, they better get someone better than a 58 year old schilling to take his place.
  17. i don't think the cubs are going to have an opening in the rotation. z prior lilly marquis hill guzman marshall etc barring a trade, all those guys will be around next year.
  18. from what i understand, the yankees camp is madness, so you might want to consider one of the others.
  19. He's given them above average results when he's played. so...he did his job? wow, let's hear it for him.
  20. derosa didn't say much...talked about how crazy the cubs convention was, playing different positions, and the competition in the rotation. then rome paused dramatically, used a bunch of made up slang words and bragged about himself (probably).
  21. If people are too immature or naive to know the difference between professional athletes and school kids they've got bigger problems. How is the principle of the matter that different? Apparently I am too immature to see the marked difference. apparently.
  22. Seriously? This is what people care about? Why do you take such personal offense to this topic? who's taking personal offense to anything?
  23. if you can stomach listening to jim rome.
  24. i may be willing to trade down. what are you willing to offer to trade down? i'd be offering my first pick. i'd look for prospect(s) + your first rounder.
